What turns people away from Christianity?

What initially brought me into Christianity at age 15 was acceptance by people who claimed to care about me. I spent 18 years trying to reconcile faith with accepting myself and being true to myself. I ultimately left Christianity and will NEVER go back for a few reasons. First, because of the...

Is Heart Disease Research Giving to the Poor or the Rich?

Heart disease isn't just an affliction of the rich. I was born with cardiomyopathy, and thankfully they've done enough research on it over the last 20 years that people like me can now live nearly a full, normal life in many cases. Anyone can get this disease, even those in 3rd world countries...

Is it ethical to have women as judges?

Ask me if I care. :)

Is it ethical to have women as judges?

Then you obviously missed the point. I knew I would have to spell it out for someone, NOT SURPRISINGLY, a guy... :P I was deliberately throwing a load of crap back at the OP (although some of what I said does have some merit and truth behind it) to demonstrate how absurd his post and reasoning is.

    My New Years Resolution

The last two years I have made resolutions and stuck to them. This past year was a year of huge change for me. On December 14th, 2007 I officially transitioned and Tim became Kelli. I had an entire list of things I wanted to accomplish with my life in the year 2008 and dubbed it "the...

Is it ethical to have women as judges?

Wow, I don't even know what to say to this thread. As someone who's lived both sides of this issue (yes, I do 'PMS' but it doesn't affect my job. I've also experienced 'male privilege' and now have experienced what it's like to be dismissed and belittled because you're a woman) I guess I have...

This kind of sex is sooo bad. Care to explain why?

My point was to address your premise that everything that's dead must be rotting.

This kind of sex is sooo bad. Care to explain why?

It may be Day 5 of your period but that doesn't mean the cells and blood that are discharged on Day 5 began dying on Day 1. :) And... Is the meat you buy at the supermarket rotting?

This kind of sex is sooo bad. Care to explain why?

The blood cells are technically dying as they are no longer receiving an oxygen supply. But they are certainly not "rotting" as it has not yet reached the stage of decomposition.

What Would YOU Do If . . .?

Wow? Yours too? I showed "girly" tendencies when I was little and my father made sure to shame me right into the closet. My father was also very abusive and the church rescued me from him and the abusive kids at school, in a way. So then the church shamed me into being closeted. About 30 years...

What Would YOU Do If . . .?

I realize that. It was an afterthought relating to my own situation and notice I said "sometimes I wonder if," not "I am convinced." I tend to write much the way I speak, including little side thoughts. How about addressing the real issue and point I was making instead of focusing on one little...

This kind of sex is sooo bad. Care to explain why?

No worries, this doesn't gross me out. The cells may be dead or dying, this is true, but they are not "rotting." Sex during menstruation doesn't hurt anything nor does it push anything anwhere it doesn't belong. Some women actually have a much greater desire for sex during menstruation. HMMV...

You're not seeing the big picture (or you're simply ignoring it).

What Would YOU Do If . . .?

Yep, and that Christian counselor or friend will try to convince them that being gay is a choice and is wrong and that being heterosexual is the only right choice. That child will then either rebel immediately, or out of guilt and/or trying to please you and your god, they will repress their...

What Would YOU Do If . . .?

You didn't have to say anything directly about it in that post. Your absolute refusal to acknowledge real scenarios and simply laying the blame on the person coming out, saying they were selfish for having kids and should have known better and stayed single, then repeating "they could just be...

What Would YOU Do If . . .?

You can't think at all beyond "Gay is bad, gay is bad, gay is bad, gay is bad." So much so that it's impossible to have a real discussion with you about it, much less discussing real-life scenarios related to this issue that play out every day. Your thinking is so fixated on "gay is bad" and so...

What Would YOU Do If . . .?

There are many reasons why a child would try to live the life their parents pounded into them as being the only "normal" life. They may have tried coming out to you, maybe even in a roundabout way and then never mentioned it again because of the negative reaction they got from you. I sincerely...
