Beliefs that prove JWs are in error of the true gospel

It's definitely a good idea to learn what different people believe and why because either you could learn something and improve yourself... or learn something about others to help you help them. As with any group, it's hard to get a fair representation of a viewpoint without talking to some...

Scripture is Consistent - Mary has no sister; Jesus has no brothers

To the OP: Your interpretations that all those scriptures could be "figurative" brothers and sisters are plausible... but I'm curious why you believe the church insists on searching for such plausible interpretations to defend Mary's virginity after Christ's birth? Scripture clearly claims...

Can you be a Christian and reject certain parts of the Bible?

Late to the conversation, but wanted to chime in on the OP: No, "rejecting parts of the bible" disqualifies someone to call themselves "Christian." However, that doesn't necessitate people accept "one specific church's interpretation of the bible." We have to remember, it was written...

    Suggestions please!

Depends on what you want to learn about. Whats your background? What s8rt 8f questions do you have? Galatians and Ephesians are great books to study. I go back over john 17 a lot because its s6ch a powerful chapter with so much in it. Keep in mind when readin bwhat jesus calls the basis of...

    No true scotsman

Yet, there are certainly christians that disagree with the jicene creed, based on the bible. The fact that the creed had to be made showed that a significsnt number of people differed in interpretation to an extent warrenting calling so many together to settle the disagreement. Some who...

    No true scotsman

I object. Being a chreistian is defined by Christ, in the bible. The Nicene creed defines catholicism, not christianity. The two overlap to the extent that they do.... some believe the nicene creed is 100% biblical and thus defines christianity. Others interpret the bible very differently.

    Jewish interpretation of Isaiah 9:6

Hey I've always been curious about how the Jewish community (messianic or not) interpreted Isaiah 9:6: As Christians, we see that it shows a "child" being "born to us" and "a son given to us" and assume this to be a prophecy of Christ (backed up by the use of the title "Prince of Peace")...

    Jehovah's Witness Scribes?

Odd. I tend to spend quite a bit of time with JWs and if they're quoting anything as authoritative, it's always the bible. Yes, they also mention interesting articles from the watchtower (which basis every paragaph on scripture)... but if they're defending a quote by quoting something, it's...

    Jehovah's Witness Scribes?

Congratulations for Der Alter taking 100 year old, out of context snippets from a propaganda web site... Der Alter likes to present his ridiculously distorted interpretation... this is absolutely nothing close to what JWs actually teach. No, there's nothing wrong with a JW writing books... in...

    God resurrected Jesus

In prophecy, yes... Jesus said "I will raise it up" speaking of his body. However, the bible's quite clear that it was his Father that restored his life. Jesus didn't come to sacrifice his "body" for our salvation... he came to sacrifice his "life/soul" for us. God raised him up from...

    Questions for JWs

We call the building a "kingdom hall" ... because it's a "hall" where the "kingdom" is preached. And most people refer to congregational meetings as "meetings." The talks that a person gives at the front is just a "talk" or "discourse" ... we generally don't use ceremonious terms like "sermon"...

    The Holy Spirit

God's spirit is certainly a part of God, but it's not an individual "person" from God any more than your "spirit" is an "individual person" from your soul.

    Divorces among Jehovah Witnesses ?

JWs believe that divorce isn't something to be taken lightly. The article he mentioned is rather short, but it links to this article: The Option of Divorce - Jehovah's Witnesses Official Web Site ... which has more information on how we view divorce. Both are very well written, IMO. Would...

    Six Myths of Christianity Exposed.

I know you weren't asking me, but let me chime in as well: My version of Logical is: The Father is God. God's spirit is his spirit. The Son is his son. Can't get any simpler. Just like I am me, my spirit is my spirit, and my son is my son. No different. Yes, you've pointed out...

I thought the opening song went very well, but I don't think the closing song was a good choice considering how many new people were there. In fact, I'm not the biggest fan of some of our songs.
