Dealing with Evolution in one's own church setting

I'm interested in how TE believers on this forum deal with believing in evolution in their own churches, and I'm especially interested in how you deal with this if you go to a more conservative church (of course anyone is welcome to comment, though). Do you feel the need to hide what you think...

    Question about Romans 5

How do theistic evolutionists interpret the repeated talk in Romans 5 about one man and one trespass bringing sin into the world. Here's the passage (NIV): 12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all...

Is sexual desire evil or is it not?

But what does a person do who isn't married and has no prospects of getting married anytime soon? What if someone is just plain ugly and they have no chances of ever having sex, even within marriage? What do they do with their sexual desire? Jesus says that lust is sinful, and is the same as...

Is sexual desire evil or is it not?

This is one thing that thoroughly confuses me, is when Christians on the one hand will say that sexual desire is something good that God created and that is something to be celebrated, and yet if I have sexual desire for someone or if I touch, then I'm living according to the "lusts of the...

If evolution is true, then why should I still believe in God?

I've already posted this in the other creation vs. evolution forum, but I'd figure I'd post this here too to see what other TE's think. I have no idea how much this has been discussed on this forum. This seems more like a place for debating the science of evolution than anything else. But I...

If Evolution is true, why should I still believe in God?

I have no idea how much this has been discussed on this forum. This seems more like a place for debating the science of evolution than anything else. But I have a hard time understanding how some people attempt to reconcile evolution and God. If I can explain the existence and diversity of...

The use of grape juice in churches

I've been going to a PCA church for a few months now, and I've been glad to have been going there, but I'm starting to have a problem with something. I really feel that wine should be used in Communion instead of grape juice, but the church uses grape juice. I'm not actually a member of the...

What Is A Welcoming Reformed Church?

I was made to feel very welcome the first time that I entered into a Presbyterian church (PCA). I had e-mailed the pastor earlier, and when I arrived he made me feel very welcome and told me that they were praying for me. And ever since then I've tried to attend there as much as possible.

    TE Observations

Personally, I don't have a problem calling the Bible the Word of God. Where have any TE's stated this? God does love all of His creation  I believe this was an actual miracle. I don't have a proble hearing about creationism, but since the science isn't too great, I don't think that...

how to communicate big ideas in a simple way

I haven't actually read this book, but it's called Calvinism in the Las Vegas Airport: Making Connections in Today's World by Richard J. Mouw. It's supposed to explain TULIP in a way that almost anyone could understand. Here's a link...

I just wanted to share why I became a Calvinist (Feel free to share!)

I came to believe in predestination because I simply came to the conclusion that nothing I can do can save me. After reading Romans 9, I became convinced that Holy Scripture teaches predestination. After believing in it, I have so much more confidence and trust in God. I see Him much more...

what's with all the 'everyone gets saved' thinking.

It's hard to believe in Hell in a day where all religions are supposedly the same. Some days universalism sounds appealing to me, too, but God has been keeping me faithful to His Word. Universalism is quite appealing, but we have to remain faithful to the truth, no matter how offensive it is...

Is Lee Strobel a YEC or TE?

From what I know about him (which isn't much), I don't think he is either YEC or TE but is ID (Intelligent Design), which is an OEC belief.

    The Reformation Study Bible (ESV)

I got one a few months ago, and I find it to be very useful. The notes are very helpful, and I think the translation is well done. I got a hardback which was about $26 on amazon.com, but I'm not sure how much a leather one is.

    Secular Music

I hate how the main factor for some people I know in determining what church to go to is the music, as if faithfulness to Scripture and administering the sacraments aren't important anymore (I know that they don't actually believe that, though). It's almost as if P&W is the new sacrament now...
