The load balancers are up, but we are still making final tweaks to them. One important advantage of the load balancers is that we will be able to bring a webserver out of the server pool for work without causing downtime for the users that were directed to it prior.

We upgraded mysql to the latest version on both the master and the slave. The configuration files were also tweaked. Hopefully this resolve this issue :)
