I just want to shake Kenneth Copeland

That was shameful. You have problems with his theology (without even demonstrating you understand it). But you have sunk to name-calling and ridicule, and you make me want to vomit. If you are what Catholicism has sunk to, it's filthy and I want no part of you. 2475 Christ’s disciples...

A broken spark plug wire doesn't mean you stopped being a Cadillac. Live long and prosper.

I'm struggling with the concept of praying to Mary and the Saints

Well, since you're inviting this and offering to be honest, could I ask you to open up a little bit about how you came to the faith and how you view things? Jared suggested you might be a convert from protestantism and I never saw a reply on that. Communion of the saints was a major adjustment...

Atheists Are Good if They Do Good, Pope Francis Says

I saw on another board where a Catholic defended the Holy Father on the grounds of Romans 2:14. What is the response to that?

    EWTN Acquires National Catholic Register

Oh? Please enlighten me. I'm kinda new at this. (I get NCR updates by e-mail, and OSV is just down the road.)

    The Chattering Classes Are Us

Amen. But I'll tell you what just super-impressed me: One morning, I couldn't attend Mass at my home parish, and visited another. During the time of announcements, the Pastor said he'd seen a few behaviours lately he disapproved of. He basically said, "Cut it out," then moved on. It's...

    Made it

I shall not fear the pounding waves across the rocky shoals in the empty wilderness of the soul where the hand of man has never trod. I dunno: too much time reading the mystics?

greatest lesson you've learned in college

Just because a university calls itself Catholic doesn't mean it really is.

Awesome passage, Alonso, thank you! MoreCoffee: I learned the pleasure of Mystic Monk coffee already, having found a merchant who didn't check to see if I was Catholic before he sold it to me ... although actually, he is my sponsor, lol. And a drop o' the Irish does sound good about now...

    Best Catholic Books?

I do a few pages every now and then of The Bad Catholic's Guide to Good Living; I especially like the suggestion of finding a non-English speaking Confessor. But the book that really leaves me with a warm-fuzzy is Benedict's Way: An Ancient Monk's Insights for a Balanced Life by Pratt & Homan.

    Made it

lol, Careful with my hot-buttons there, Sis. My class in Medical Ethics revealed some things about contraception that somehow didn't make it into the rest of my Nursing classes yet. I want to scream at people: "Don't you know what that stuff does!!" Yeah, sounds like you are blessed indeed.

    Made it

Coffee and donuts sound especially wonderful in view of this rule about fasting before Mass, lol. Actually, we had a potluck dinner, and I was able to have chocolate cake guilt-free! My faith background? You do realize, don't you, that I don't have the gift of giving short answers? I'll try...

My notebook says Father started teaching me the faith in October of 2009. I made it to the other side of the Tiber this morning. God bless.

    Fatherless - Brian Gail

Well, I know how busy things can get. This was literally my first "recreational reading" in about two years. If the opportunity ever does present itself, I'd be curious about your impressions. Some of it was a repeat of what I got last semester in Medical Ethics. Some of it was totally...

    Fatherless - Brian Gail

Got it for Christmas, and finished it last night. Not what I'd call a feel-good book, but I'm glad I read it. Anybody else read this? Gonna get Motherless?

    Latin mass/language questions

I'm a Candidate in an FSSP community (Confirmation could come anytime; woo hoo!), and it took some getting used to. Other than the more experienced in the parish, we each grab a red Latin-English Booklet Missal (from ecclesiadei.org) from the stack near the sanctuary entrance. Mass propers can...

    2009 Gratitude

    * I'm alive (woke up Christmas Day 2008 in the ICU, so that's a biggie) * Went back to school after 35-years * Got accepted into Nursing School * Discovered the Fullness of the Faith was in the Catholic Church * Discovered a Church community that actually wanted me * Tobacco-free since 12/23/08...

    Products from monasteries?

Is there a way to find products made in monasteries? Perhaps a single website, as opposed to me chasing all over the web to find every community trying to support itself? I figure as long as I'm going to use certain items, I might as well support good causes. On a side note, has anyone ever...
