TAW Wiki: Should TAW posters be required to bear non-offensive avatars?

*interjects one more thought before leaving Formerly Christian Forums for good* You can't have a turn off avatar choice for a single forum, as the moment someone leaves and turns it on again, the avatar will show in the post it was turned off for. Just like when you change your avatar, or...

Recovery from the occult forum - an explanation

Or when others come seeking that same deliverance, and the demons in her turn them away? This is a hugely bad idea. Internet exorcisms? She, and others like her, need to get real life help, and have my prayers.

Recovery from the occult forum - an explanation

I have many concerns in this, and one major concern (of many) is that while Erwin states that no non-Christians may post, the wiki of the forum states that they are just fine with seekers and those who are "open to" Christ. Moriah herself lists herself as a seeker, not a Christian, which means...

Rallying the Troops! Major battle to be won!

Nope...it's time to avoid any further association with the place. Although I might add for anyone reading the OP there and flipping out, the name does NOT mean what they think it means. http://www.bibleplaces.com/bethshean.htm That said, I do not support hidden forums for any religion.

Rallying the Troops! Major battle to be won!

I just read that thread. I'm out. I can't possibly continue posting on a site which allows a hidden occult forum. See you on other Orthodox message boards, all.

    Are They Kidding????

A blessing service is one thing...making St. Seraphim the patron saint of nukes is rather different, IMHO.

    Are They Kidding????

I think I'd think twice about standing next to anyone asking divine intercession for launching nukes...

    About the polygymists....

Typically the ekonomia also states that the person who has multiple wives should from that time on only have relations with one of them, but it is not an unknown thing at all. It often happens.

    Godparents and parents, please...

I'm fine with the filachto (sp?) because it's blessed...made of retired priestly vestments. I even said that. It's all the rest of it. I think I'll have a brief chat with the other godparents (she's having twins) before I decide.

    Godparents and parents, please...

Thank you, all....I think I may have found a way around it...but it is sad...and does affect her life...for instance, she and her sister's best friend are now in a feud because she did not attend the woman's husband's funeral because her mother had told her that engaged couples should never go...

    Godparents and parents, please...

That's the problem, though...she intends to deliberately teach the child these things as truth, and I have been told not to contradict the blatant false teachings (among them: psychics and other more harmful things)

    Godparents and parents, please...

How do you deal with the issue of superstition? I have been asked to be a godparent to the child of a friend of mine who is deeply superstitious, and got those superstitions from her deceased mother, and has stated her intention of passing them along to the children. There are MANY such...

    Are People Born Gay?

I think it's a moot point, really...gay or straight, no one is to engage in sexual relations outside of marriage blessed in the Church. If one is not married according to the Church, one does not engage in sexual relations. To try to get around this by saying that God made someone sexually...

    Fasting

To get back to the old thread of the OP...The Orthodox Church requires strict fasting by those who are able to do so (health, pregnancy, and other issues may prevent this) on certain days of the year. For instance...the first week of Great Lent no food is to be taken, only water, from the end of...

    Coming Home (Again?)

Juvenaly, I think the best thing for you to do is to fight the impulse to worry about what is correct around you. To explain, I mean that the evil one can use what you perceive as laxness in others (I say perceive because only God knows men's hearts) to distract you from your own worship. Do...
