What's your Favorite Hymn/Contemporary Worship song?

I'm not sure I could pick a favorite hymn. It's like choosing my favorite child. LOL....I think I love them all!! From Great is Thy Faithfulness to A Mighy Fortress is Our God....to How Firm a Foundation to The Solid Rock. The words to all those wonderful hymns resonates with my soul even today...

    God is faithful

My family and I have needed a newer larger vehicle for quite some time now. The problem has been that we simply couldn't afford another car. At Easter this year my father got gravely ill and without a dependable ride we were stuck renting a car to drive down to Georgia for a week. After we...

That's strange. I have always been told James Dobson was Nazarene. Hmmmm? Not that it matters, it's just .....strange. ;)

Only hymns at your Methodist church?

I grew up in the Nazarene church and if there was one closeby I would still attend. We usually did mostly hymns, but a few choruses sprinkled in there once in a while. The big complaint I have with the newer Naz churches are that they have forsaken all those beautiful hymns in favor of the more...

    When I was Your Age

This was in one of my morning devotionals today. I thought it was cute so I thought I'd pass it on. When I Was Your Age A young man who was an avid golfer found himself with a few hours to spare one afternoon. He figured if he hurried and played very fast, he could get in 9 holes before...

    New York Annual Conference

  What Bible are they reading? Because the one I read daily and have read my entire life unequivocably says homosexuality is a sin.

    Our very first female GS

I was so excited to be able to watch everything as it unfolded on the web casting of the General Assembly. My dad, who passed away in April, was the missionary president at the local church for many years so he and Dr Gunter shared that love of missions. He would be so happy that she has been...

    Interesting theology quiz

Not surprised by my results. :) I do have a couple of questions though... Who are Karl Barth and Bishop Spong? And what is Sola Scripture? You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan. You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God's grace enables you to choose to...

    Books we've read

I think the two that have influenced my outlook the most are Living Above the Level of Mediocrity by Charles Swindoll and Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala. Both books challenged me to be a better Christian and inspired me to greater depths in my relationship with God.

    Civil War

I've been a big Civil War history buff for as long as I can remember. I don't think that most wars are ever fair.....but fair and justified are two different things. I feel the south suffered much in the aftermath of the war. IMO we're still suffering some of the effects today. Lack of respect...

    Question!!

You could always go to Lookout Mountain. It's in Chattanooga, TN. That's where Rock City and Ruby Falls are. And Chattanooga also has a wonderful Aquarium. It's at the corner of Ga, Tn and Ala I think. When you go up on Lookout Mountain you are suppose to be able to see 7 states. But with all...

I need help with my baked potatoes!!

I have always baked mine at 450 for an hour(that's what my mom did I guess...LOL) and they are very soft when they come out. I do poke holes in them, coat them with butter, sprinkle a little salt on them and wrap them in aluminum foil before baking.

    Potato Salad

I'm glad to find another recipe using Mayo and Mustard!! LOL.....the only two things I add are a couple chopped up hard boiled eggs and a few diced up DILL pickles. I hate sweet pickles and the tartness of the dill really adds a little kick to the salad.

    What does your Username mean?

There's a saying here in the south, "American by birth, southern by the grace of God." I'm proud of my southern roots so I thought the name fit. :)

    Prayer Chain

Hello all, I got an email from my sister-in-law today. The pastor of the Nazarene church my family and I attended when we lived in SC was told by his doctor yesterday that he has pancreatic cancer. There is only a 5% survival rate so please pray with me as we trust God for the other 95%...
