Internet Fellowship - Good or Bad Thing?

I think humans will always need the stimulus of interacting with other humans. There are certain pitfalls with this media, such as internet bingeing, that can be detrimental to health of body and mind. As with most things...reflection, assessment and moderation is key (is that what you...

I can accept that my perception of love, which includes directly protecting those I can within my ability, is different from that "love" which you ascribe to your concept of a God. My view is that the version of love to which I hold is more beneficial to humanity. Yes. Yes. They...

    Why can't people see ...

There is no justification/reason behind some of the horrendous crimes that I have witnessed. If I decline to accept such an excuse in an interview with a murderer, that there is a mysterious, unknowable plan behind his/her violence perpetrated upon an innocent...why should I accept such an...

Well, you could argue the "might makes right" position, Oncedeceived. However, that would not bring you any closer to arguing from a moral position. As always...in my view. :)

I disagree. Morality is not a substance requiring a "source". It is not even something that can be regulated or specifically defined...as some have already stated in this thread. Some of the tales reflecting the qualities and behavior of the Christian God, for instance, do not match...

I know what you mean. I think the Buddhists have come closest to answering this by recognizing the significance placed on selfish human cravings. That said, as with most things, education, living example and persistent examination of these issues seem to be the key to promoting morality.

How does that really stop anyone from posting problem photos, though? Couldn't a "troubled" anybody still post whatever photo they wanted and then get moderated or banned outright? Seems like unnecessarily sub-human or second class treatment to me and really only punishes the...

I hope he'll revisit the issue. True. But, it would seem to be less organized for access and responses as a "Photo Gallery"...in my view. Also, I wonder if by trying to arrange a "get around" of posting Non-Christian photos by creating a "gallery" inside the Chill Thread it would still...

    Dragon Ball Z

Well, from this atheist's perspective it's just alot of "Yeargh!" "KaZot!!" and "Look Out...Behind YOU!!" I've caught it a few times over a span of several months and I don't seem to have missed anything other than more of that. Maybe Christians can make something more of it though, good...

    So we bombed a wedding?

The citizenry in Iraq are mostly armed...now is not the time to present the notion that an armed people is a negative thing. They celebrate by firing guns, Jamesb...it has happened before and will happen again. They were then fired upon and eviscerated by a technologically superior...

Well, metaphorically examined, the phrase "lest ye come through me, will ye get to the Father" could mean that unless we show true understanding and compassion for others (the "me" equates to the condition of this pure goodness as many allege Jesus embodies) we will not know the treasure of...

Sorry, but merely asserting that the bible is true because the bible says it is true is not a reasonable or rational way to approach a discussion. I was addressing your assertion that "No one is casting stones, and I have yet to read where it says we can't stand up for our beliefs. You...

Fatal DWI story is one of faith and forgiveness.

Forgiveness is necessary for human healing to begin. As an atheist, humanist and police officer who has personally dealt with many DUI related fatalities and infanticide, I have found that those who can manage their way through the entire grieving process ultimately find comfort in letting...

I was speaking of the Golden Rule found in Matthew 7:12 ~ "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." And, this in reference to refraining from casting aspersions upon those Christians that are perceived as not towing whatever line Larry is...

I think that, for Christians, the Golden Rule would apply here. And, I recall someone of Christian import saying something regarding the casting of stones. Is it really the realm of humans to know the intention and desires of any supernatural entity? Odd how these desires reflect...

Well, I appreciate those of the more tolerant theistic mindset when it comes to news and current events. This is especially true when it concerns basic human liberty, governance and the basic tolerance of any worldview or action that provides comfort. We may each disagree on the particular...
