  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the "pleasure" we can *take* in everything???

"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10) What is this "pleasure" which we also can enjoy, no matter what we are going through? And can we have this while...

    Psalm 103:4 > how the LORD "crowns" us . . .

Psalm 103 shares with us about how God is and how He blesses His people. One thing is that the LORD > "crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies" (in Psalm 103:4). I see that if we are crowned with something, we are royal and have ruling authority. As royal rulers of God, we have...

    Theology of emotions . . . anger

By theology of anger, I mean how things work spiritually in God's way of anger, versus how things work in what is not God's anger. I notice how God has done things when He has been angry: He makes things better. For example, in the Jewish Temple, Jesus saw how people were using the Temple to...

    Good-bye independence!

Here, I intend to share an experience. But this is for discussing how spiritual formation and discipline can be good for a medical situation in which I am involved. This is not a request for prayer or advice, but so we can talk about spiritual formation and discipline in relation to this...

    arguing and complaining

Philippians 2:14 says > "Do all things without complaining and disputing," This is in the New Testament. Jesus does not want us to complain or argue. And I note how there is a comma at the end of this commandment > and then what do we have? "that you may become blameless and harmless...

"love covers all sins" > in Proverbs 10:12

Proverbs 10:12 says > "Hatred stirs up strife, . But love covers all sins." . . . . . . . . . . .(Proverbs 10:12) I have wondered if this means that love covers-up for sins, instead of making a big show of exposing them and talking about them. But . . . I have not quite ever accepted this...

    the miracle of obedience

What do You want to do with me now? Actually, You want me to care about others, in prayer, and not only about my own self doing what You desire. "for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13) So, at each moment You want to work in our wills...

Has our will ever been free?

"But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered." (Romans 6:17) Were our wills free when we were "slaves of sin"? "Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared...

scripture for helping with emotional development for personal relating . . .

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32) From this, I see that there are emotions to put away. It does not say to...

what to do with a quadrillion dollars . . .

That would be a thousand trillions, I think. If I were . . . or you were . . . to be given a genuine quadrillion-dollar bill > what would be the best philosophical and ethical way to handle this? The United States is in debt for something like 38 trillion dollars. So, you would be in the red...

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment." (1 John 4:18) "And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?" (1 Peter 3:13) "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21) "'He who loves his life...

Can a man have love with any woman in marriage?? > Genesis 29:16-33

In Genesis 29:16-33 I see how Jacob discovered Rebecca who was so beautiful and he fell for her. But then her father switched Leah for Rebecca in the tent for the honeymoon. And in the morning - - Jacob realized he had joined with Leah and not with Rebecca! He was not happy, to say the least...

Learning how to love, not cancelling ourselves from loving the way Jesus desires . . .

Now, in the United States, we have what is called the "cancel culture". What I understand is that cancel culture is partly a reaction to how evangelicals are working to pass laws which end things like gay marriage and abortion and transgender surgery. There are people who don't want Christians to...

    "as a nursing mother" . . .

"But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children ." Possibly, God used nursing mothers to help these great men see how our Father would have...

Now is our time to be with God . . .

. . . how He pleases. So rest in Him. He is so greater than we are, and so more than the universe. Ones are making discoveries about how vast and great the universe is, and God is so more and better than whatever scientists can discover about this universe :) So, be kind, gentle, "with...

"we are more than conquerors" > in Romans 8:37

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." (Romans 8:37) One way we are more than conquerors is that our methods are better. And our methods get what is better than what conquerors get with their methods.
