  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Matt 1:21 He Shall save His People

I don't think Heb 2:14 has anything to do with inherant sonship, but much so to do with how Jesus accomplished redemtion, by becoming flesh and blood like us, so he could defeat the devil and deliver sinners.

Matt 1:21 He Shall save His People

We are not kinsmen by birth and flesh, but through the Holy Spirit. Once we are born again Christ is our kinsman redeemer. The one not yet born again is a child of the devil (1 John 3:10). For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my...

Matt 1:21 He Shall save His People

Scripture teaches that people become children of God, they are not born that way. Sonship is granted through faith and repentance. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, — John 1:12

Matt 1:21 He Shall save His People

NLT has added "His people" to those passages. It's not in the original Greek.

Matt 1:21 He Shall save His People

Before you are saved you belong to the devil. It's true of those Jews and it was true of you and me. The words of Jesus are very hard and were intended to bring fear of judgment leading to repentance, but those Jews chose to harden their hearts instead. Further on in chapter 10 Jesus tells the...

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

Where I find lack of clarity is when phrases like "the grammar itself provides the reason" or "so there's the reason" are used, since that language sounds like a claim of textual necessity rather than interpretation. I’m not equipped to engage at this level of technical detail you are asking...

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

My point is there are other plausible interpretations to the text than the one you hold. It's not clear to me when you say something can be stated from grammar alone and where it's your theological interpretation. I think it would help if you were more clear about what the text actually requires...

But that understanding is not a grammatical and textual necessity. It's a theological interpretation.

Ok, but that is still not answering why He rendered them "God taught". For an example, was it because they were humble?

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

I copied my whole previous post and your whole previous post and asked the ChatGPT if you were right. Now it does not sound like you argue against my previous statement: "The text does not explain why they listen and learn, why they are God-taught. It simply presents these as qualities of those...

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

"Short answer: Dikai over-states what the Greek grammar can prove. The adjective διδακτοὶ θεοῦ can fit a monergistic reading, but it does not grammatically require it. It is consistent with multiple theological interpretations, and standard Greek grammar does not force the conclusion that God's...

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

Most of what you have quoted is true of believers, but not true concerning all Jesus atoned for, since he atoned for everyone, not just believers.

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

The logical problem with Jesus only dying for the elect is you need to know you are of the elect before you can trust in Christ. IOW if you don't know Jesus died for you, how can you then trust in him? But Calvinism solves this illogically, saying if you do trust in Christ, he died for you, but...

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

I don’t think using grammar to support theology is wrong in itself. The issue is that his grammatical reading doesn’t seem objective, which is the real problem.

The Saving results of the Death of Christ !

I appreciate your respons, but that's a theological conclusion. Dikaiouminoi believes that conclusion can be made from the grammar. It's a bit annoying I can do nothing with his statements. Kind of kills the discussion.

I don't see the problem. Hearing and learning is not the same as receiving Christ. Listening to the prophets enabled one to come to Christ, in other words, you would be drawn. If you ignore the prophets, you would ignore Christ I can neither verify nor refute your grammatical and theological...

Not from that text, but: It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. — John 6:45 So "heard and learned" may be the reason to be drawn.
