I love how the article makes it sound like Rowling just got up one day and decided "this random Harry Potter character needs to die." It really reminds me of the negative fan reaction to when Weiss and Hickman killed off Sturm in the second Dragonlance book.

harry potter is evil and stupid.

You are entitled to that opinion. I think it's brilliant. While perhaps not quite as weighty as Lewis and Tolkein, Rowling's books of journey and spiritual quest have reached masses of people globally.

And don't forget what happens in stories such as these: when a major character dies, often there is a resurrection!

I just finished reading that Dragonlance book, and I was so sad that Sturm died!

I know that Rowling has had the storyline planned from the beginning. It's just sad when a beloved character dies. :(

I'd rather not get into a whole "is Harry Potter evil" kind of discussion. Seen it too many times, not going there again. ;)

Oooh, I love Dragonlance! Actually, I'd like to see a Harry Potter is evil debate. I love debates. :D

So any takers? Who wants to claim that Harry Potter is evil because of the presence of witches and magic in the book?
