Hi Debbie.
I love Ephesians!
There are numerous baptisms discussed in scripture.

Heb 6:2 And we shouldn't need to keep teaching about baptisms or about the laying on of hands or about people being raised from death and the future judgment.

Which baptism was Jesus talking about here?
Mar 10:38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
Luk 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

The point is this. The term "baptism" is just a generic term. It simple means to be submerged into something whether it be water, spirit, or Holy spirit. Eph 4:4 is referring more to the single instance of what is commonly called Christian baptism or baptism into water that all believers (gentile and jew) partake of.

There are actually 3 baptisms we deal with:
In Water
Into Christ
With the Holy Spirit

What about this one?
Luk 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

It appears that the baptism of John is only one of the baptisms:
Act 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

This guys needed more:
Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

They needed to be baptized into Christ by believing into His death burial and ressurection. (Rom 6)

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
there is only two baptism mentioned in the bible. before the holy spirit, there was water baptism, the baptism of John, for repentance. For the church, there is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Water is just an outward sign. See I or II pt. Spiritual Baptism or the baptism of the holy ghost/spirit but us into the body of Christ/Saved.

Mar 10:38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? Spiritual baptism/holy Ghost or Holy Spriit
Luk 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Same here

What about this one?
Luk 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; Water baptism, before the baptism/infilling of the holy spirit

This is at the time the gospel of grace began and water baptism was not longer needed rather Spiritual baptism. These gentile/jews were baptist with water but needed Spiritual baptism for salvation into the kingdom of God.. This was a transitional period between the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom and the gospel of grace

Once again this is speaking of Spiritual baptism. That is how we are baptized into Christ.
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Smith Wigglesworth, for example, already had a powerful miraculous ministry going on for many years b4 he received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
I have had a discusion about Smith Wigglesworth going on elsewhere, but saw your post and thought I would aks a question.

Smith Wigglesworth said:
My brother, it is the double cure you want. It is saving and cleansing and the baptism of the Holy Ghost till the old man shall never rise anymore; till you are absolutely dead unto sin and alive unto God by His Spirit, and know that the old things have pased away. When the Holy Ghost gets possession, there is a new man entirely -- the whole being becomes saturated with divine power. We become a habitation of Him who is all light, revelation, all power, and ll love, Yea, God the Holy Ghose is so manifest within us that it is glorious.
So, then would you agree with SW that we do not experience the resurrection power of Jesus until a second experience of BHS?
