Peace in Christ.
What we have witnessed so far in Christian history is the “generation of wrath”….the vessels of His wrath…the flock of the slaughter…the “dead” (who believed in Christ but mortally perished because they had no knowledge of the Truth of the gospel).
Their “preachers” had no knowledge of the gospel of the glory of Christ and so did not preach it to them so that they might understand and inherit an age-lasting life in their mortal bodies. His people…the dead… perish because of a lack of knowledge. They did not preach the Word of Truth.
The dead believed in Christ but were led astray by false prophets to their mortal destruction. Their false prophets did not have the Word of Truth in their preaching to them as they did not understand it and so did not feed anyone with it that they were preaching to.
Their preachers were not entrusted with the Truth of the gospel.
The “many” = the vessels of His wrath = the generation of wrath = the flock of the slaughter = the "dead".
Mat 7:13-15 KJV
(13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
The FEW though are the vessels of His mercy who will find the narrow way that leads unto life….an age-lasting life.
They will NOT PERISH mortally but will continue to mortally live throughout this current age TO the last day of this age where then they will be “changed” from mortal to immortal without ever seeing death. They shall never die mortally into the age. The “few” = the vessels of His mercy = the living.
(14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
(15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
The “dead” will be resurrected AT the last day of this age. The Lord is the Lord of both the dead and the living for Christ died for us and rose and revived.
Rom 14:8-9 KJV
(8) For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
(9) For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Even though the Christians before us died, they will live again as they will be resurrected AT the last day as they did believe in Him. Even if he dies, “he will live” ( future tense). Even though they had died they will live being resurrected AT the last day of this age which has not come yet.
Jesus is the resurrection…and they believed that. The dead shall be resurrected AT the last day.
Joh 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he may die, he will live (future tense).:
Yet, the “living” shall NEVER DIE INTO THE AGE. They will receive an age-lasting life (aka “eternal life”) and will never die/perish.
(26) And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, INTO the age. Do you believe this?”
Dying = perishing. Those who will not die mortally shall keep standing here in this age to the very end of the age...the last day of the age. Hence, having an "age-lasting" life.
John 3:16
that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-lasting,
The dead…the vessels of His wrath… were sown in corruption. They were sown in weakness. They were sown in dishonor. They did not receive an age-lasting life. They did not receive glory and honor in this life. They died without receiving these things in their mortal bodies.
But they will be raised imperishable…they will be raised in glory…they will be raised in power AT the last day of this age.
1Co 15:42-43 KJV
(42) So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
(43) It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
They were made vessels of dishonor…the vessels of wrath. This was part of the plan…one in which we cannot question God who is the Potter.
Rom 9:21-24
(21) Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
They were the vessels of His wrath as they mortally perished under His wrath as a demonstration of His power. Multitudes of Christians before us have gone down the broad way to their mortal destruction….and God has endured with much longsuffering those vessels of wrath which were fitted to destruction.
(22) if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
God did this so that His power is made known (upon the dead) and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of His mercy (the living) which He had before prepared unto glory. The dead did not receive His glory in their mortal bodies. They were sown in dishonor. They perished without the glory that was reserved for the future Christians that were designated to receive His glory in their mortal bodies.
(23) And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
(24) Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
MANY Christians….the vessels of His wrath…have gone down the broad way that leads to destruction….mortal destruction. The false prophets led them astray to their mortal deaths. The vessels of clay (their earthen bodies) are/were destroyed by the Potter under His wrath that came upon them for their disobedience. They do not/did not inherit age-lasting life as they mortally perished. They did not receive His glory in their lives. They were sown in dishonor. They were sown in weakness.
God will give them…the dead… a body as determined by Him at the last day of this age. They will then be raised in glory and power and an imperishable body. They had suffered loss under mortally perished under the fire of His wrath...but will be raised up at the last day of this age.
1Co 15:35-38 KJV
(35) But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
(36) Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
(37) And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
(38) But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
But the living shall never die. This is the “first resurrection” that they will participate in. They will receive His mercy and not His wrath. They will receive in this age His glory and honor and immortality…that is, unending existence. They receive an age-lasting life and all those good things with it NOW in their mortal bodies.
Romans 2:7:
to those, indeed, who in continuance of a good work, do seek glory, and honour, and incorruptibility -- life age-during;
The vessels of His mercy receive His glory now in this life.
Romans 9:23
in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—
The glory of the LORD will arise upon the vessels of His mercy.
Isa 60:1-3 KJV
(1) Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
The vessels of His mercy…the living…shall shine His glory to the people of the outside world who are in deep spiritual darkness. His glory shall be SEEN upon them. There will be a “great multitude” of the people of the outside world that will “see” Him shine through us and believe.
(2) For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
(3) And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Every person shall be made alive in Christ in his own order…that is, troop or group. Christ the firstfruits (the first group) are the “living” who shall never die but will live into this age to the last day of the age.
1Co 15:22-26
(22) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Those who are Christ’s at His PRESENCE shall also then be made alive. This group of people is the people of the outside world who are sitting in deep spiritual darkness.
We…Christ the firstfruits…manifest His presence to them who will see His glory shine through us to them. A “great multitude” of the people of the outside world shall then “see” the Son (shine through us....through the group Christ the firstfruits) and will believe. They will see the light of God's glory and the Lamb shine from us to them.
(23) But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming (Greek: Parousia = PRESENCE).
(24) Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
(25) For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. This is at the very last day of this age. This is when the Christians who mortally died (the dead) shall then be resurrected.
They will have missed out on all things that would have happened during the remainder of this current age. They will have missed out reigning with Him …putting down all rule and all authority and all power with His presence that is to be made manifest through us the living. They will have suffered loss of these things as they perished from this earth without receiving an age-lasting life nor the glory and power that comes with it now.
(26) The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
He shall raise the living TO the last day. The Greek word for “at” is added. It is a textual variant which does not appear in many manuscripts.
Many early, high-quality manuscripts omit the preposition ἐν, leaving just the bare dative noun phrase tē eschatē hēmera ("the last day").
He keeps us ...the living... STANDING TO the last day of this age. The "dead" who had mortally perished will be resurrected AT the last day of this age and God gives them a body as He determines. The living will keep their mortal bodies alive in Christ TO the last day of this age when then their mortal bodies (that never perished) will then put on immortality.
Joh 6:39-40
(39) And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up (stand) at (TO) the last day.
Everyone (the people of the outside world) who will SEE the Son (as we shall manifest Him in our mortal bodies to their seeing eyes) and believe on Him may have an age-lasting life and He will stand them up TO the last day of this age. They are His at His presence....of which we manifest in our mortal bodies to them who will then "see" Him in us. They will see and believe and praise God above.
