Obama gave us the Affordable Care Act, to Americans without insurance. He gave us the Dodd-Frank Act, to protect Americans consumers. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to help America recover from the Great Recession. He made it possible for gays and lesbians to serve in the military. Signed the Paris Agreement to help fight climate change. Signed the Iran Nuclear Deal, to ensure Iran wouldn't get nuclear weapons. Normalized relations with Cuba. He fought for gun control.

I could go on and on but Republicans fought tooth and nail to stop Obama from implementing hundreds of bills to help the average Joe.

They called him a Socialist, yet the Socialist Party rejected any notion that he represented them. He was a moderate Democrat that angered both the far right and the far left.

That might be, but I'm not so sure. From what I understand, under the Obama administration, they counted "turnarounds" at the border as deportations. So that skews the numbers by quite a large amount. What is certain though, is that Biden allowed something like 20 million illegals to come through the border, and so far Trump has only managed to deport about a million of them (with the Democrats fighting him every step of the way, I might add). Can the US survive another 4-8 years of a Democratic administration where they open up the borders again?

The DSA has openly stated that as one of their goals - open borders.

You're right, strict border control is not far-right, neither is the removal of those that violate them, but to many on the left it has become a far-right issue.

All I know about DSA is their biggest online influencer is a literally terrorist sympathiser that dresses like Chairman Mao and has a history of animal abuse.

So yeah, fingers crossed they don't get anywhere with real authority.

I was raised "Right," but having autism in my family, I am now "Right of Center."
The "simple" Right does not know what to do with a man who cannot be "taught to fish."

They either do not exist or they are malingerers who do not deserve to eat.
If they get hungry enough, then they will get their act together...!

I still consider employment to be the ideal, if fitting & available. And I am unapologetically for Fetal Rights.
I think that the "safety net" should be "bare bones," so people who can do better, will.

(To date, Trump seems to be even-handed on those economic matters.)

To a small percentage. The vast majority of Democrats want secure borders.

The Republican party is much different than it was before Trump. They used to understand the importance of immigration to our life style and economy. Of course, Republicans embrace lying to the American people like they do now.

The importance of legal immigration. Illegal entry is completely different than that. It's like putting shoplifters in the same category as paying customers.

Immigration is important, yes, but it needs to be heavily controlled and regulated. You can't just let 10 million in to do the 500,000 jobs natives don't want to do.

Canada has a good system where provincial (State) governments do labour market assessments and offer limited work visas for people coming to work in that state and in that specific role. It helps plug natural labour gaps, is targeted in its approach by state government who are best suited at those assessments, and gives folks an opportunity to live and work there whilst giving back in a way that the country needs.

That is most notably targeted at unskilled and entry-level work. Folks with degrees and professional careers can still apply via traditional work permit routes.
