  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the famous parable of the two sticks (Ezekiel 37:16-19), G-d commands the prophet to join two pieces of wood together: Judah (Southern Kingdom) and Ephraim/Israel (Northern Kingdom)

20. ר Resch 200
10. י Yud 10
13. מ Mem 40
Σ 331

30
+331 = 361

When combined in the prophet's hand, they equal 361. This number holds a stunning multidimensional meaning:

19*19 =361

Mathematically, 361 is a perfect square. In Hebrew, the number 19 is the exact Gematria of the word ve-echad (ואחד), which means and one

ve-echad (and one)
ואחד
6. ו Vav 6
1. א Alef 1
8. ח Chet 8
4. ד Dalet 4
Σ 19

This is precisely the wording used in the Hebrew Bible to describe the final reunification of the two houses.

When Judah (30) and Ephraim (331) come together, they form the square 361 (19*19). They literally become a new, self-contained, perfect space of unity. The union of the two long-lost kingdoms literally results in Unity Squared (19²)!

G-d takes what was violently separated and, in His hand, transforms it and on the feast of tabernacle the two houses become permanently ve-echad (19). In Paleo-Hebrew, the letter Vav historically took the form of a hook or tent peg

1784464191541.png

The vav (the peg) holds together the tabernacle of G-d and, with it, the bride (the two houses).

The Vav (6) acts literally as a prophetic hook that fuses the fragmented parts of the bride back together forever. The Feast of Tabernacles is the pilgrimage festival celebrating the harvest and commemorating the wilderness. The bridge to the reunification of the houses of Israel and Judah is reflected in the messianic symbolism of the Tabernacle of David, which is invoked during this festival as a sign of the future restoration and unity of the entire people.

2. ב בּ Bet/Vet 2

3. ג Gimel 3

361 is also the exact Gematria value for Mount Zion

20. ר Resch 200
18. צ Tsadik 90
10. י Yud 10
6. ו Vav 6
14. נ Nun 50
Σ 361

The mathematical fusion of the divided tribes inherently points to the very location of their final restoration.

Furthermore, if you look at the entire nation of Israel (541) and subtract the separated Northern Kingdom of Ephraim (331), the remaining core is exactly 210. In biblical structural theology, 210 is the 20th triangular number, representing physical formation and maturation (symbolizing the 210 years Israel spent growing into a nation in Egypt).

In Ezekiel, G-d declares: and they shall be one in mine hand. Ezek 37:19b

The Hebrew expression for in mine hand is B’Yadi (בידי):

B'Yadi (in mine hand)
בידי
2. ב בּ Bet/Vet 2
10. י Yud 10
4. ד Dalet 4
10. י Yud 10
Σ 26

The number 26 is the exact Gematria value of the holy, unutterable Name of G-d, YHVH

YHVH
יְהוָֹה
10. י Yud 10
5. ה He 5
6. ו Vav 6
5. ה He 5
Σ 26

When Scripture says something is in G-d's hand, it means it is under His absolute, sovereign control. Through this architecture, the tribes become one directly within the numerical frequency of the divine Name itself.

Just as the Nunim Hafuchim structurally show G-d reversing the laws of nature to save them, the Gematria reveals a hidden, immutable blueprint

The Center (541): The ultimate goal of the gathering: a united Yisrael.
The Unification (361): Achieved through the square power of absolute unity (ve'echad = 19).
The Completion (26): Sealed safely within G-d’s hands (B'Yadi), wrapped in the protective outer border of His healing Word (2196) to bring His people back to Zion (Jer. 31:11-12).

Have you ever read Psalm 107 as a prophetic roadmap for the restoration of all Israel?

The psalm is often understood as merely a song of thanksgiving for deliverance from personal, everyday dangers. But upon closer examination, it reveals itself to be a prophetic roadmap for the end-time gathering and restoration of all Israel, in particular, the Northern Kingdom of Ephraim, which was believed to be lost.

The four groups described in the psalm (those wandering in the wilderness, captives, the sick, and sailors) are far more than individual historical stories. They are collective, redemptive-historical symbols of the fate of the house of Israel.

The psalm begins directly in verses 2-3 with the prophetic fulfillment of this vision:

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. Ps 107:2-3

While translations here often opt for south, the original Hebrew text uses the word mi-yam (from the sea), #39. Since the west is already mentioned in the same verse, this points prophetically to the sea of nations into which the tribes were scattered.

It is precisely the picture painted in Isaiah 11:12, Isaiah 43:5-6, and Ezekiel 37:21 the gathering of the exiles of Israel and the scattered people of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

They wandered in the wilderness in solitude; they found no city to dwell in. Ps 107:4

The Northern Kingdom (Ephraim/Samaria) fell to the Assyrians in 722 BCE. The result was spiritual and physical homelessness. Yet in prophecy, the wilderness is not merely a place of punishment, but of purification, where one’s first love for G-d is rekindled.

In Hosea, G-d says of unfaithful Ephraim:

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. Hos 2:14

Jeremiah 31:2 also emphasizes that Israel, having escaped the sword,

found grace in the wilderness; Jer 31:2b

Spiritual isolation paves the way for restoration.

Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Because they rebelled against the words of G-d, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Ps 107:10-11

This second group describes precisely the fate of the Assyrian and Babylonian exiles. The house of Israel went into bondage among the nations because it broke the commandments.

G-d will break this yoke of captivity on the day of restoration. Jeremiah describes this moment for the Northern Kingdom:

in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, Jer 30:8b

When G-d hath broken the gates of brass Ps 107:16b, he frees Ephraim from the chains of centuries of dispersion.

Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted… He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Ps 107:17 .20

In Hebrew prophecy, physical illness is a direct symbol of rebellion against the Torah. Isaiah describes the condition of the disobedient people as a body in which

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; Isa 1:5-6

The exiled Northern Kingdom became assimilated, lost its connection to the Torah, and was regarded in the Jewish world as spiritually dead and sick.

Here, healing means forgiveness and spiritual restoration. When Jesus deliberately travels through Samaria (John 4) or heals the sick there, He does so as the promised Messiah.

He Himself emphasizes:

I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Mt 15:24b

Through the Samaritan woman on Mount Gerizim (the historical heart of the conflict over Ephraim), he heals the theological wound of division. His physical healings in these regions are the visible sign of the spiritual healing of the house of Israel.

They that go down to the sea in ships,... For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof… They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end. Ps 107:23-27

In biblical symbolism, the stormy sea and the depths almost always represent the world of the Gentile nations (Goyim). The Northern Kingdom was literally swallowed up by the sea of nations and perished as the ten lost tribes. The storm at sea symbolizes the existential distress and wandering of the worldwide diaspora.

The fact that G-d calms the storm and leads the sailors to a safe harbor (Ps 107:29–30) is the ultimate image for the end-time gathering. G-d does not forget the Northern Kingdom that sank into the sea of nations. In the last days, He will bring them out, purify them, grant them faithfulness to the Torah, and bring them back to the Promised Land.

The vision culminates in what Ezekiel describes in the famous parable of the two sticks (Ezek 37:15-22): The stick representing Judah (the Southern Kingdom) and the stick representing Ephraim (the Northern Kingdom) are united in G-d’s hand into a single people under one king.

When these four phases of salvation are complete, when the lost Northern Kingdom has been brought out of the desert, freed from the bands of bondage, healed of its departure from the Torah, and rescued from the sea of nations, the cycle of salvation history comes full circle. Then the prophetic call, which echoes like a refrain throughout the entire psalm, breaks through:

Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Ps 107:31

The image captures this profound mystery: In the background, we see the four scenes of deliverance from the Psalm, the desert, the chains, the stormy sea of the nations, and the messianic healing of the sick Northern Kingdom of Ephraim. But the true miracle takes place at the center: G-d reunites the two separated houses (Judah and Ephraim) into one people!

When He reunites the houses of Judah and Ephraim, the pain of exile is transformed into the eternal song of praise from the Psalm

O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Ps 107:1

Since my previous analyses of Psalm 107 and shipwreck rescues in the NT are now shifting heavily toward historical and theological questions surrounding the Northern Kingdom of Israel, I will continue the next part in a thread that is more thematically appropriate. You can now find the post about the connection to the lost tribes here: #650.

Many thanks to everyone who has been following this structural aspect here in the Psalms thread.
