While they make up the minority of the party, the survey found that they are among Democrats’ most loyal supporters and are more likely than other Democrats to favor sweeping changes to party leadership and direction. The subset of Democrats has gained major momentum in recent years, notching notable wins by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) and democratic socialists in three New York congressional primaries.

Should they get the three congressional seats any bills they submit regarding that will be public record. Until then there is still plenty of time to rend ones garments, despair for the fate of the republic and keep a weather eye out for the formation of workers militias.

Which means that democratic socialists are among the many voices that make up the party, noting that (according to this poll) 2/3 of Democrats do not identify as socialists. I imagine upcoming conversations within the party in which proposals for better health care and better protections for workers are balanced against what's practical and affordable.

What's the bit about getting rid of the Senate and the Supreme Court? I didn't see anything about that in the linked articles.

From a practical political standpoint, the odds of this happening are essentially zero. Achieving a single constitutional amendment requires a two-thirds vote in both the House and the Senate, followed by ratification from three-fourths of the state legislatures (38 out of 50 states).

The odds of it happening within the laws of our nation in the next few years may be close to zero. That's why I would like to learn their plan for implementation.

Does that contain polling data about how many democrats in general or DSA faction members in particular identified as communists? If not it’s a non answer.

Since he's not a conservative or a republican, the views he expresses about democrats and liberalism could be considered unbiased. In other words if someone like Maher is speaking out against the democratic party and current liberalism, there might actually be problems existing in both.

Being adroit at making fun of policy and policymakers is all well and good, but anybody who trusts Bill Maher for political sophistication and astuteness should find a different hobby, rather than politics.
