  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A vote postponed means that Blanche will continue as Acting Attorney General. He had been a decent attorney at one time, I've been told, but his current antics should get him disbarred.

Is anything (law) stopping Trump from keeping Blanche as the "acting" AG indefinitely?

The situation appears complex. There is more than one law, and there's a constitutional requirement. See https://www.justice.gov/olc/file/2018-11-14-acting-ag/dl The constitution requires appointment with the advice and consent of the Senate. However the Supreme Court allows temporary acting appointments. At what point does it become non-temporary? The AI summary I got on a search claims that a process to get a Senate-approved candidate must be active. However it didn't point to any authority, so I can't verify that. It seems a reasonable understanding of temporary.
