I strongly believe kids should learn this... but from their parents.

It sounds great now, but if or when the majority religion in the US ceases to be Christian and the same happens, it won't be good then either.

How do you know they are not? Hard to judge someone's heart at a long distance.

Is anyone paying attention to the fact that on the Texas curriculum listed, where it's practically observed, there's barely any 'BIBLE' material on it? Just odds and ends, bits and pieces, and rather smaller ones at that--- except for a hop skip and a jump in the book of Job--- jumbled among the typical, more perennial literature that's been on the public curriculum for decades.

Some kid might be exposed to a few verses of the Beatitudes. Travesty! Conspiracy! A dystopian nightmare.

Sure. It's not a problem for me if my children are exposed to hearing or reading bits and pieces of the Qur'an. Or of the Tao Te Ching. Or of the Dhammapada. Or of the Mahabarata/Bhagavad Gita, etc.

Doing so would simply let them have a glimpse into what these other World Religions teach and think. It's not a matter of 'truth.'

Good point!

Actually knew a parent who complained about Jurassic Park before. For some reason, it was required reading in 12th grade English, and it had a passage about God. So the English teacher explained every time God is not being attacked per what my brother said.

I took dual credit English comp and literature, so i never read Jurassic Park.

(Saw the first three movies though)

I don’t have children, but in a world religion class, if any such exist, that would be fine. Just learning other religions doesn’t mean preaching, IMO.

It doesn't just have to be in a World Religion class, even though those do exist as well.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

It we wouldn't want our children forced to study other religions or Christian theology not taught in our Church, we should not force other people's children to study ours.
