By "more secure," of course, that means more restrictive. By putting limits on the methods used to prove eligibility and putting limits on the ways people can vote.

Against the restrictions, yes. Because no one has been able to demonstrate that the methods that have been in place for a while now are causing problems sufficient to warrant these restrictions. Voter fraud is exceptionally rare, and has never been shown to alter even a single election, even though that has been claimed over and over again. To date, not one single shred of evidence has come to light that indicates it's in any way a reality.

Prove there is a problem, and show us that the solution proposed will definitively solve it without creating even more problems, and we can talk. So far, that has not happened.

The idea of small government is to not have government intervene when not warranted.
On one hand, there is no need to pass laws when there is no justification for said laws.
On the other hand, this thread is riddled with Republicans noting the real reason for voter suppression laws.

No one is saying they are helpless. It's the same as what the NC GOP did with taking the voting patterns data of blacks, and enacting legislation to blunt those voting patterns. There is a long history of republicans doing what ever they can to suppress the vote.

I've been hearing from democrats that voter ID suppresses black votes because getting an ID is beyond their means. Thus that canard is issued by the Democrats. Do you have a another version to offer that doesn't involve 10 year old news articles about something else?
