CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This isn't really about that. This was a deliberate, false report made to damage\injure a political figure. This wasn't a Karen who needs to mind her own business. This was a criminal act.

Vivek Sankaran, a University of Michigan law professor and child advocacy expert who reviewed the documents, said the decision to approach Buttigieg's door on such thin, unverified information was a serious lapse in judgment, especially given no evidence suggested the children were in immediate danger. He said the case should serve as a wake-up call about how easily families can be upended by inadequately vetted reports.
The records show the tip took nearly a week to unravel. Indiana officials only later told Michigan that the likely source was a woman authorities described as possibly "mentally unstable." By then, Buttigieg had already gone public with the ordeal, and Michigan State Police had publicly declared the allegation false.

I fully support annonymity with these reporting lines. Keeping these kid safe from their parents is 1000% my most important priority.
Sadly, the kind of person who would make these reports is the kind of person who's children I would have extreme and grievous concerns for.
I'm am sorry Buttigieg went through this but I desperately hope that local CFS agents are able to flag his file in some way so that this type of doxxing never reaches anywhere near an investigatory stage.
