  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A Michigan man is suspected of fatally shooting his wife and six children and then setting their house on fire, before taking his own life, authorities said Monday, calling it an "unspeakable tragedy."

The children's father, 47-year-old Kristopher Karolkiewicz, died by suicide, and the deaths of his wife, 39-year-old Amanda Karolkiewicz, and their six children were ruled to be homicides, according to the sheriff's office.

"This is an unspeakable tragedy that we may never completely understand why it happened. But we'll do our best to find the answers and to honor the memory of those victims," Ottawa County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jake Sparks said during a press briefing on Monday.

The family's pets, including several dogs and at least one cat, also died in the fire, he said.

The American Heart Association confirmed in a Monday email to News 8 that Kristopher Karolkiewicz had been employed there as a national vice president of sales and marketing between September 2023 and earlier this month. It said he worked remotely for its national headquarters in Dallas and never worked in local Michigan offices.

The organization would not say why his employment ended, telling News 8 it does not comment on personnel matters.
