  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sorry to pick this post apart, but I have to pull up this part. I find it a further oversimplification.

It is, I understand, encumbent on Muslims to believe Allah and Yahweh are one and the same as that is laid out in the Quran, our God is their God.

It doesn't work both ways, there is nothing on Christians to consider Allah and Yahweh to be the same. Some Christians do, others are not so sure, and I have heard some, ok, seen some yt videos, vehemently opposed to the idea.

It's true that Allah literally means God in Arabic, Arabic speaking Christians refer to Yahweh as Allah, when they are speaking Arabic, but while the names are the same it doesn't necessarily follow that who they refer to are theologically the same. Those mentioned yt videos contrasted the character of Yahweh and Allah and found them very different.

For what it's worth, I'm one of the not so sure. With Jewish people I think we are all clear that however we refer to God or G-d, we are on the same page, in whatever language. That it was necessary to bring the Arabic word Allah into English and use it almost exclusively when referring to God in the Quran and in Islam, suggests to me that the word God wasn't adequate as Allah indeed expresses something different.
If you want to check out what people are beieving, - study what they do.

The 'center of their universe' is a black stone in Mecca to which they make pilgrimage and kiss.

This indicates reverence of a very different spirit and certainly NOT the God of Israel.

Psalm 2:12
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Good evening.

Islam I believe teaches that God has no son and that Jesus is not the Son of God, nor indeed the ultimate messenger, being superceded by Mohammed.

Hebrews 1:1-4 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Islam is so far from the gospel that perhaps we should look on anyone who teaches chrislam as being evidently deluded in the extreme.

God Bless You :)

Maybe before Mohamed started writing. My boy Tucker is infecting a lot of minds, including my son's, on Zionism.
The Lord Jesus warned about deception, false prophets and false teachers as being the pre-eminent sign of his return, we are commanded to expect and keep watch for false teachers in order to guard the flock, that the church is so anaemic on keeping this command is something many will have to answer for in shame on the day of the Lord. The playbook for a false teacher is to say seemingly acceptable things in a charismatic style, to build a following and to lower inhibitions, they will begin to introduce their poison, drip by drip by drip.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Matthew 23:10 Nor are you to be called 'teacher', for you have one teacher, the Christ.

The encouraging thing about false teachers is that even from the start they all say things that contradict the teachings of Jesus, to those with ears to hear alarm bells ring right away. To anyone ensnared by a deceiver the pure Word of God is the antidote. There's enough in the bible to refute any false teaching a hundred times over.

God Bless You :)

Muslims do revere Jesus but they do not see him as a prophet.
Muslims do see a "Jesus" as a prophet--as the greatest prophet in fact (but not the "sealing"--the final--prophet).

Allah and Yahweh are the same entity but very different understandings toward their attributes and divinity.
Their version of the Old Testament is not even the same document revered by Jews and Christians.

Their "Jesus" doesn't have the essential characteristics as our Jesus.

Their Allah does not have the essential characteristics as our God.

I don't see any reason to believe they worship the same God.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if indeed the one coming proclaims another Jesus whom we did not proclaim, or you⁺ receive a different spirit that you⁺ did not receive, or a different gospel that you⁺ did not accept, you⁺ bear with it well.

You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.

This tucker is proclaiming another Jesus, a different Jesus, a different gospel and a different Spirit, as the bible foretells in 2 Corinthians 11:4. He should be marked and avoided IMHO. God Bless All.
I am confused at this verse.. We ought to put up with it then?

I am going to say what Milo said about Russia. Oh, Darn I guess we shouldn't try and get along with a Nuclear super power. As if anyone could survive a Nuclear iran.

What are we supposed to do then? They were at 60% uranium.. However, Trump has poked the bear. How much longer can we ward off people who think we are Satan?
And for the love of Christ, can we please stop acting like we legitimately, Are Satan!

They have a point, you know.. And I just feel like we're poking the bear. Would it stop them, regardless? I'd just like to buy us, Time..

What makes you think the US could not survive a nuclear Iran?

Define the ways Iran would be different from North Korea.

We could survive, but who wants to? Looking at Iran's actions in the Middle East shows that if they develop nukes, Israel and all the countries that are being bombed now would probably receive a nuke. Surviving years of real existential climate change with the globe cooling, food, and we are whining about fuel prices; wait till the ME is a sheet of glass. I wouldn't want to take a chance on Iran, even with an enemy's kids and grandkids.
Define the ways Iran would be different from North Korea.
Iran is different in publicly stating death to America/ Israel and and actually killing people for 47 years through terrorist activity.

No, looking at Iran's actions in the Middle East says something different.
Iran has supported proxy groups, armed militias, sponsored terrorism, harassed shipping, and launched missiles and drones. Nobody has to pretend otherwise. But for more than 40 years, Iran has also generally avoided a direct conventional war with Western militaries, especially the United States. Its behavior shows it's aggressive, but it also shows it's very aware of the consequences of crossing certain lines.

That also doesn't mean Iran would hand a nuclear weapon to Hezbollah. Hezbollah is an ally, not an Iranian military unit. Giving a nuclear weapon to a proxy would mean giving up control over it and almost guaranteeing that Iran would be blamed if it were ever used.

A nuclear-armed Iran would absolutely make the Middle East more dangerous. That's a reasonable concern. But saying Israel and every country Iran is fighting would probably get hit with a nuclear weapon isn't a fact. It's a prediction, and Iran's behavior over the last four decades doesn't make that prediction as obvious as people claim.

The prospect of nuclear war deserves serious discussion. “wait till the ME is a sheet of glass” is not serious discussion. It is fear-mongering apocalyptic rhetoric being used in place of evidence.

Iran is different in publicly stating death to America/ Israel and
That's not a call to action, that is a prayer to the Mahdi. Iranians believe the Mahdi will handle Satan (both of them), not themselves. The Twelver Shiite Islam that Iran follows calls on them to persist until the Mahdi is revealed, not to be a martyred nation. Their version of the apocalypse does not show them being destroyed.

and actually killing people for 47 years through terrorist activity.
To the extent we stand up American troops to hem them in, yes. But they haven't reached out to get us...the way Saudi-inspired terrorists have done.

They use proxies as we did.

I believe they will, and it would be a better tactic to attack Israel rather than Iran, launching for all to see.

Serious discussion? Give me your less fearful version. How do you think the world will end?

Well, whatever it is has them motivated to create death for Israelis and Americans and any innocent civilians that's in the way for 47 years.
To the extent we stand up American troops to hem them in, yes. But they haven't reached out to get us...the way Saudi-inspired terrorists have done.
Trump has been re-establishing friendships with countries in the Gulf, and Trump indicated that after Iran is taken care of, leaving the Middle East. My evidence is troops leaving Iraq in September. Plus, Trump's mantra has been that countries need to be able to defend themselves. Now Trump gives Saudi nukes, and this is questionable in my book. We need to eliminate Iran's nuclear ambitions rather than adding another nuclear country.

I think the reason Trump is mad at Iran is because of a planned assassination plot.

"...The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.

Since in the course of centuries not a few quarrels and hostilities have arisen between Christians and Moslems, this sacred synod urges all to forget the past and to work sincerely for mutual understanding and to preserve as well as to promote together for the benefit of all mankind social justice and moral welfare, as well as peace and freedom..."

Can you really love someone whom you don't know???

I love the way some well-known authors write, but that does not mean I know them and actually love them!! This is why the foremost commandment in the Bible is "Hear, O Israel", or as the Father commanded concerning his only begotten Son Jesus the Christ "listen to Him".

And this is where non-believer's theology falls apart!! Faith comes from hearing a word from Him, meaning hearing His voice speaking to you personally)!!

Now I understand that most "Christians" don't or rarely hear His voice. The Scriptures tells us that with their eyes they don't see and with their ears they barely hear - and that was concerning even concerning Isreal!! And in Hebrews, obviously written to the Jews at the time, it was written:

Heb 5:11 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.

And they were supposed to be the teachers and probably were teaching whether they were dull of hearing or not!

Heb 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

If they forgot that we are supposed to be listening to the Lord on that day called "TODAY", what can I expect from a Tucker Carlson???

If indeed a person, a Muslin by religion (man's understanding of God), did start hearing from our Lord Jesus Christ, then they would start loving Him. And then they are actually a Christian person even if they don't understand it yet. And if a person does not listen to Him then they are not actually a Christian person even if they don't understand it yet. How many fall away from Him so that He has to seek them again.

I meet a Chrisitan pastor leading a church that had only hear from the Lord 3 times in his life. I meet a different Christian pastor leading a church who had not hear from the Lord in 13 years. They both told me this information! Just the other day I talked to a Christian pastor leading a church and asked him what the Lord last told him. He told me that he was thinking last night before going to bed how everyone has a story. I assumed he meant that he believed the Lord was talking to him, but he was telling me it was him thinking and not the Lord speaking to him! So he was not actually testifying that he believed the Lord was talking to him, but that he was going by his thinking.

As for this writing, I am writing it only because I heard that little voice telling me that before I went to collect my orders for my business He wanted me to come to the Christian Forum. Sometimes I hear the small voice clearer than at other times, to be sure. But it was not my thinking that brought me here at this moment!! My though, as often is, was to go get my work done so as to make more money.

But since I do actually know Him as my Lord, meaning He gives me instructions, I listen to Him. Because I listen to Him and believe it is Him (based on all the things that have happened in my life) I like to try and do what He says, most of the time. I am human, so not always do I want or even do what He tells me, but He tells me!! So, I know Him because I hear from Him. So, I if say I love Him, I mean it. I am not saying it to mean I like a character written about in the past whom I have never met!!

Now I have heard how in Iran the Lord our God Jesus Christ seems to be doing incredible things and appearing and talking to people who considered themselves perfectly devoted Muslims. However, all those testimonies seem to wind up with the person converting to Christianity which is a very dangerous thing to do there. That does not seem to be what TC was talking about, but I don't know him as to be able to ask Tucker Carlson to explain. I do know Jesus Christ as my Lord personally, and the above I gave you was based on what He told me personally, and I backed it up with Scriptures because they do tend to back up what He tells me.

Which brings me to one more little comment. Someone at a church once told me, "The Scriptures prove Jesus Christ". I understand how easy it is to get things backwards, but the Scriptures do not prove Jesus Christ, it is Jesus Christ that proves the Scriptures!!! If He was not indeed there to talk to me, I would not concern myself much with the Scriptures. They would be like any other interesting or philosophical writings that have been done over the years. The thing for me is that the first words I personally heard from Him were, "Read Your Bible", and he has regularly been talking to me about them since then. Can that be happening to a Muslim person without them turning to Christianity? NO WAY!

I think, though, it can. Muslims do get a picture of Jesus, albeit distorted.

But it appears to be enough for the Holy Spirit to stir--and I could not say how or why the Holy Spirit moves as He moves.

But I have a friend who has spent two decades as an undercover evangelist in Muslim countries. He is openly Christian, but is careful not to display himself as an evangelist.

But he reports that every so often, a Muslim man will approach him privately saying, "I see you are a very devout Christian. Teach me about Jesus."

My friend invites the man to his and his wife's home to read scripture--just to read, not to preach, not to indoctrinate, just to read. They go through the Gospels, then Acts, then Romans. If the Muslim sticks with him through all that reading, at the end of Romans he asks the Muslim, "What do you think of what we've read?"

My friend reports that 100% of the time, if the Muslim has stayed through all that, he will say, "I believe this--I want to baptized."

I'm not saying that the Muslim was converted by the scripture. I'm saying that the Holy Spirit had already called him to seek out scripture.

I love the above post, though I am not sure I fully understand I fully understand what RDkirk is getting at. I do want to point out this Scripture:

Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Therefore, if we just read Scripture to someone and at the end they say they believe, it must have been that our Lord Jesus Christ spoke to them via His Holy Spirit while the Scriptures were being read, because it reads "comes from hearing" not reading. And the 'friend' above that is reading is not Christ, and Jesus clarified that His words are spirit, so not sound waves, and they come from the Holy Spirit!!

Jn 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

The above verse explains why the Pharisees, even though they actually heard Jesus Christ speaking to the personally at that time, did not believe. They failed to understand that His words that had to hear were through the Holy Spirit. Not even heading words from Jesus Christ while He was in the flesh caused the Pharisees to believe, and Jesus did also reference Scriptures. So reading the Scriptures, having another person read the Scriptures, and they Scriptures do not save us, but life comes from the words of God, which belong to Jesus Christ, that come via the Holy Spirit cause us to believe in Him and that saves us!
