  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

72 Billion for war.
11 Billion for farmers hurt by Trump's tarriff policies.

Where does it end?

On June 24, the White House requested $87.6 billion in emergency supplemental funding. Most of the request—some $72 billion—is ostensibly related to the war in Iran.

The House already passed the supplemental funding, which, btw, is not paid for. And notably, packaged it with Trump's "save America" measures...

House Republicans have opted to use the reconciliation process, which allows them to advance a budget bill without support from Democrats, to help cover most of the costs of the Iran war. The framework for the package also authorizes $12 billion in aid for farmers and $10 billion for election-related measures.

The CATO analyst further notes:

"....at least a quarter of the supplemental would finance ongoing operations, adding to “the roughly $113 billion this war has already cost.” The administration also requests $21 billion to replenish depleted munitions; $1.2 billion for unspecified “administration priorities”; and $12 billion for classified programs. It is doubtful that all of these qualify as emergencies."

Senator Angus King, the Maine independent aligned with Democrats, has never in more than a decade in Congress opposed the annual Pentagon policy measure, a bill that traditionally draws overwhelming bipartisan backing by lawmakers eager to show support for America’s military.

Yet Mr. King this month crossed what was once considered a political red line, by joining Senate Democrats in unanimously blocking a bill that would lay out more than $1.15 trillion in Pentagon spending.

.....

“It’d be hard to explain a vote to say: ‘Well, I’m against the Iran war. It’s never been justified. It’s never been authorized. But I voted for a bill that funds the department.’”

To paraphrase a line by Tom Skeritt's character from Steel Magnolias ->

Our President is a moron and I am not even sure he has opposable thumbs.

Suddenly they're complaining about foreign aid. Hilarious.
All the money for the war goes to American corporations (unless they're actually foreign owned--I haven't tracked down who actually owns Raytheon or Lockheed, but I'm presuming they must still be American-owned corporations).

I prefer, that people, kids, and babies in America getting health care, food , better schooling and shelter. Then waisting our money on invasion in other countries. And using our money to clean the mess our president's caused

The war of choice with Iran is not foreign spending.
It's domestic to pay for a mistake.
Kind of like the aide now paid to farmers because not only this mistake, but the trade war mistake.
And the "they" is the majority of Americans.

Because she likes helping her own people more than harming other people. The bigger question is why don't you?
Because it sounds boring and predictable.
