• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The latest DSA primary winner has some interesting thoughts...

I notice it got kinda quiet in here after that last post lol.

I'm guessing perhaps some folks didn't know that the aforementioned things from the previous post were part of their official DSA platform when they were rushing to defend some of the candidates the DSA has been putting forward.

There's nothing like a little bit of education. ^_^

I actually thought I already replied to it. I must have closed the tab early.

Regardless, I did forget about their new update.

I think many of those proposals are silly, but some of them are at least pointing at legitimate problems.

You're welcome for the link. However, I will never ever sign up for the Democratic Socialists of America. If they gain enough power, I believe they will destroy the USA.
The confederacy didn't manage to "destroy the USA" despite trying to. Why do you think the DSA would be able to?

At the very least, they want to completely remake it from the ground up in their own image (which just so happens lean heavily on Marxist theory...another thing they're not shy about on their official website)... while they may not think it'll be destruction, history suggests otherwise.

One area where I'll give them kudos, as I noted earlier, they don't hide the ball.

They have a pretty polished flashy website where they list out their entire agenda and what they want to do.

It's the people who want to rush to defend them against conservative criticisms that are either trying to hide the ball on their behalf, or are simply ignorant of what their platform actually is.

"They just want to tax the rich more and foster more equity and have universal healthcare and a few extra free goodies"...uhhhh no, they want to do a lot more than that.

The very fact that they openly admit in bold print that their vision is to get a majority in congress via seat expansion in strategic areas, and then:
"We want to abolish the Senate and replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress...oh, and then we want to write a new constitution"

Shows that they're pushing for some sort of single-party controlled sort of deal. That goes quite a bit beyond "they just want to be like Denmark"-style defenses of them that people want to prop up.

If we take their claims at face value - that they're wanting to increase democracy or democratic representation, then abolishing the senate and expanding the house makes sense. Between its over-representation of rural areas and the exploitation of the filibuster, the senate has become increasingly undemocratic. Because of gerrymandering and geographic distributions of voters, the House is starting to head in that direction.

I don't know what their deal with the president and scotus is.

The confederacy managed to kill a lot of people... And we know Marxism can certainly do that.

That aside, the dynamics are a bit different here.

The Confederacy was largely regionally contained to an area that stewarded over less wealth and power than the Union.

In the case of the DSA, they're the most popular in major metropolitan areas that have considerably more stewardship over a larger amount of resources and infrastructure.

Their most popular member is currently running the city that's the de facto seat of the economic & finance sector for the entire nation.

A person with the views mentioned in the DSA website being in charge of modern-day NYC wields quite a bit more power than an 1800's plantation owner in Savannah Georgia.

it's part of the Marxist playbook...you either scrap (or find a way make subordinate) any entities that would present an institutional challenge.

The concept of a bicameral legislature (with one being proportional, and the other one not) is a very important "check" in the system.

The reason why they want to expand the house is because they know what the political leanings of the most population-dense areas are.

And once that happens, if you have a judiciary and executive that are appointed by, and subordinate to, the new house majority (that they'll carve out in their favor), then you have a one-party state where you can ram through what you want and nobody can stop it.

They're being "helped" by the fact that most people in the big blue cities are still under the impression that their goal is merely to mimic the Nordic states, and the mainstream media is doing a lousy job of covering it.

The fact that a new political faction (who's racking up wins left & right recently) wants to make those kinds of radical changes, and virtually no media outlets are covering it, is a problem.

They spend a lot of time covering things that are far less consequential.

I also notice their website seems to be written at about an 8th grade reading level. Sad to say, too, the DSA website really takes me back to my university days ...........................

To be honest, I can't necessarily put a lot of the blame on the DSA.

They're not lying about what they want to do, and they're pretty bold in their proclamations. There is something at least a little refreshing about that level of bold honesty (even if the ideas are terrible)

I would lay more responsibility at the feet of the "defenders" (the people and media entities who run cover for them and try to soften their positions on their behalf), when they're not even asking for that.

They're more than happy to tell people that they revere Marx. Mao, and Chavez and that they want to "tear it all down"...they literally put it in writing on their official website lol.

It's the wishy washy people who want to intervene and say "well y'know, they just want healthcare and a more progressive taxation system" that are the ones who are lying.

Yeah, well. This DSA type rhetoric is nothing new. The whole 'we'll renovate society with Neo-Marxist aplomb' was saturated through several of my classes back during my time in university. And that was a couple of decades ago. The only thing new now is that they are unabashed about just pushing it out there on the table for all to see, as if it will somehow magically take....... There goes the senate. There goes the rest of the structure, just a congress and a bunch of robotic party lines and after school clubs.

What was that Beatles song? Oh yeah. "You say you want a Revolution, weeeellll ya know....................... " GEE ----------- WIZ, people. Wake up!

Anyway, your post is right on! Thanks.

The DSA are not "trying to change everything about" the US. They're trying to change what they believe are bad parts.
Everything they want to change qbout the US actually changes everything about the US. It becomes something else entirely.

If I came to your house and said, I love your house but I want to change some things. I want to chanfe the paint, the roof, the windows, doors, add on another 1000 square feet on the main level, put in a basement and a second floor, chanfe all thr bathrooms take out the carpeting and put in linoleum and then bring in 50 more prople to live there, and then rent out all the extra rooms and space, one could say they really do want to change everything. It's no longer the house it was. They have changed everything that made it what it was.

Once you take an honest look at what they stand for and what they want, its a fundamental transformation which changes everything.

Oh no, whatever shall we do!
It's not up to us to do anything.

Ultimately, it'll be on the DNC to get their house in order and strategize build a brand that's more appealing to independents middle America.

They need to have another Sister Souljah moment...

You should work on your reading comprehension and review basic forms of government.

A reading of those parts makes it quite clear that what they want is a unicameral, multi-party (proportional?) parliamentary system perhaps (I can't tell as they are vague and don't come out and say they want a prime minister) with an executive council like in Switzerland or under the Pennsylvania Constitution of 1776. (The executive council form was failing so badly in Penn., that the Massachusetts Constitution of 1780(1?) went with a singular executive.

A larger House, proportional representation are completely with in the powers of Congress to pass into law. The other things I summarized (Eliminating the Senate, and substituting some sort of Congressional council for the President and Supreme Court) would require constitutional amendments, but such amendments are accounted for in Section V. (Please read it.)

I've read the US Constitution multiple times and I'm fully aware of what it says. I also know that the changes that the DSA wants to make are fully against the US Constitution.
