  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And never said. that I speak GREEK and I do not have a computer to print Greek words BUT when. I check a word it shows

HE THAT //. HO

INFLECTED

ROOT. and TRANSLITERATED

dan p
I use an iPhone & ask for translations of English words to Greek in Greek script & phonetic Latin letters. I copy, paste, & provide links to and from the sources.

Immersion in water is part of the Christian definition of baptism in its various expressions ( like tense etc.) of the Greek words of baptism. Baptism is a transliteration of a distinct Greek word to English. As I posted in a different thread, which I guess you did not see:

βαπτίζονται (from the Greek root baptizo - βαπτίζω) translates to "they are baptized" or "they immerse" in English. [1, 2]

Phonetic Pronunciation
    • Classical / Koine (Biblical) Greek:vahp-TEE-zon-deh
    • Modern Greek: vahp-TEE-zohn-deh [1, 2]

Meaning & Context
The word comes from the root verb βαπτίζω(baptizo), which originally means "to immerse," "to submerge," or "to dip". In a religious or ceremonial context, it refers to the act of fully submerging or washing someone in water to cleanse or initiate them into a faith. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5

My scripture references are from a bilingual Greek-English Bible from a Greek Orthodox website.

No, and neither would I presume to claim understanding of the language nor post anything in Spanish while pretending I could understand what I was posting.

You just apply your disconnected whims as your rules. If someone said Burger King and McDonald’s are 2 fast food burger chains, you would say it is wrong to state McDonald’s is one because the word “burger” isn’t in the name. If someone provided physical evidence otherwise, your imagination already has said it is false to say McDonald’s is a burger chain.

You can’t even give an honest answer to a straightforward question on whether you speak any Greek.

Proverbs 14:7
And I ALWAYS use BLUE LETTER BIBLE. has all the GREEK WORDS to explain and verse and in. the other give all

Hebrew !! And you are saying that I. do not GIVE no honest answer. , REALLY. and that I am LYING. ??

And not one time have I ever have said that I. SPEAK GREEK. FROM A GREEK BIBLE

I don’t think you are a liar or dishonest and don’t even try to reject your doctrine. It is your insistence on undermining the commonly held understanding of the role of witness involving water baptism in its relation to baptism of the Spirit I object to. From this you seem to embrace a legalism that has no foundation to justify it. A sensible reading or preaching of 1 John 5:1-13 should help sort this out.

What you keep saying is similar to sabbath keepers who insist on the Sabbath Day as worship. At least they have a solid foundation to justify their doctrine ( Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:8 etc.). We can worship on the Sabbath or the Resurrection ( Matthew 28:1-9, 1 Corinthians 5:7-9, Matthew 12:1-8 etc.).

We should keep our faith understandings firm within the particular community we worship. This issue of the form of water baptism as witness or not falls within the area of Christian liberty that Paul speaks of in Galatians 5:1-26. If your tradition doesn’t practice it: fine. Saying others who maintain it and preach another gospel ( Galatians 1:8-9 etc.), not fine ( Matthew 7:1-6 etc.).

Pro tip: write your posts in notepad or some other app that doesn't rely on internet, then copy and paste into your forum reply. I've had the same happen to me a few times.

If you don't like your views being challenged by other viewpoints then ChristianForums is probably not for you.
