Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. NKJV

Jesus has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. If you are in Jesus, you are perfected if you are being sanctified. What does that mean? If we are perfected, what do we need to do? We need to be “being sanctified.”

2 Timothy 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. NKJV

To be “being sanctified"; we need to be following the voice of Jesus as He gives us commands to keep us in His Spirit. From the time we first believed in Jesus when we are born from above until we die physically we must remain in the Spirit of Jesus. As long as we are in the Spirit of Jesus we (our spirit man) remains perfected forever. We remain perfected because we are in the Spirit of Jesus, not because we are without sin.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. NKJV

We are without sin because the Father has condemned the sin in our body. As long as we follow Jesus' voice as He commands us to do what we have to do to stay in His Spirit, God the Father will condemn any sin in our flesh to keep us sinless. Romans 7:14 as long as we live physically and remain in Jesus we will remain perfected forever. We must die physically in Jesus to remain perfected forever.

It’s not a salvation by works but by the grace of God through faith. We are already righteous in the eyes of God by virtue of being justified.

How do you define the word perfect? Faultless? Blameless?
Jesus in the sermon on the Mount called us to be 'perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect'. Matt 5:48.
A close inspection of that passage reveals that Jesus spoke of a perfection in love.
Being sanctified is being cleansed from indwelling sin. Acts 15:8,9. And being filled with God's perfect love. 1 Jn 4:17,18.
This is what Paul meant by being sanctified wholly or entirely. 1 Thes 5:23.

but it shows we have a choice if there are things to do and that everything is not completely predetermined by God. There are tests to improve the quality of life and to show we be not so proud that we are unconditionally saved and others are not and have no chance. Where God commands God empowers any buddy can choose Christ with the help of the HS. He wants and helps all to be saved which is enough of a disagreement to stop the ultra calvinists in the forum. It’s not by works but it’s through faith kept alive by works.

some people want to be so sure. And because they are saved and it seems like some kind of miracle they have the audacity to say others have no chance. Arrogance my friend. Yet it can be just temporary and go on to conspiracies. You have to take into consideration all the scriptures and that predestination and free choice are both true in their place At the same time. Sorry im not dumping on you specifically.

Apparently, you did not read the last paragraph reprinted above. We are sinless only because the Father has condemned the sin in our flesh. To be “being sanctified” we must be putting the sins of our flesh to death. If we follow Jesus' commands, we will be putting those sins to death. The more sanctified we are, the more we will be of use in furthering God's kingdom in this world. We will always have sins as long as we are in the flesh.

Matthew 10:39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. NKJV

The more life we lose in this world the more life we are building in heaven. The more we gain in heaven the greater the Father can trust us with more important work in heaven.

Matthew 7:24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." NKJV

The more we improve our foundation's strength the greater our faith will be, greatly improving our chances of withstanding times of temptation. The stronger our faith, the greater our works in this world will be. The greater our works in this world the greater God can reward us in heaven. The greater our works are the stronger our love for God and the saints will be. Love has its own rewards.

it seems we can strengthen our foundation and it does stand in time of temptation.
but we can also build on it with gold , silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble for the time of scarcity and/or judgment.

1Cor 3:10-12 Jesus is the foundation, can it be improved upon? The lord builds the house too. But we can take heed on how it’s built. Which means we have control what we do. Do it well. But every body has wood, hay, stubble which is sin and all those imperfect things we do.

In Christ. The Holy Spirit is perfecting a relationship among imperfect people by the fellowship
in the One Body and One Spirit. As iron sharpens iron.
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The perfection already exists in heaven. Hence we pray, "on earth as it is in heaven".
Ephesians 2:4-6

Therefore, "in Christ" is in the Fellowship of the Saints, under the Anointing of the Holy Spirit.
There is an individual, abiding Spirit, and a Corporate Spirit of Anointing on the Body.

Here is the thing though. We basically have three serological choices (most folks think that there are only two).

Synergism- which causes man to be the agency that determines their salvation by the means of free will.

Personally, I reject “free” will. Choices, sure but salvation is of God not of man. If you take free will to its logical conclusion then God cannot be omniscient and now you believe in the heresy of open theism.

Monergism- which means that God is the agency that determines salvation with man having very little, if any depending on who you ask, choice in their salvation.

I don’t fully reject monergism and I believe that God is the author of our salvation by virtue of the free grace that only He can bestow and without grace there is no faith (Eph. 2 for example). My hang up here is what some call double predestination. I don’t believe that God creates people for destruction.

The third is that neither one is fully correct and what we have is a mystery that us finite beings can not understand.

My soteriology is reformed so I fully reject synergism but concede that there is a mystery here that us finite beings can’t fully understand. I could never argue for free will but I could argue for choice.

It’s called Sanctification which is the lifelong process of becoming like Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

It seems as though most people posting here understand that even though Jesus has perfected us forever, if we are still alive in the flesh we are still being sanctified. As the scripture states those who are being sanctified are perfected forever.

1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. NKJV

If we are keeping the commandments Jesus is telling us that we must keep, we know Him. These are not the OT commandments and laws although we should keep the moral laws and the law of love, Once we shed our flesh bodies we are sanctified forever if we die while sanctification is still ongoing with us at the time we die physically. If we have kept His words of conviction while putting to death sins of the flesh through His Spirit, Jesus' love has been perfected in us. That is why Jesus gave us 2 commandments to keep.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. NKJV

Romans 14:23 if we have doubts about what is lawful for us to do our hearts can condemn us, but God is greater than our hearts. If we have true doctrine, our hearts should not condemn us and we have confidence toward God, we have what we ask of Him if we are keeping His 2 commandments and doing those things pleasing in His sight because we love Him. John 13:34 the second commandment is to love other Christians. We should love our neighbor as we love ourselves while doing those things pleasing to Him.

Do we have to do any of the OT laws or commandments to be righteous? No! We do those things out of love to be pleasing to Him. That is worship in truth.
