I'm sorry, but there has been a legitimate question posed here, and it remains unanswered. It's been asserted, by Marco Rubio as well as certain posters here, that the ICC needs to be dismantled. It's also been asserted to be ineffective and unlawful. When asked for the legal basis for these claims, the only response comes from crickets.
Now, we know why Donald Trump wants to dismantle the ICC. He's long been proven to dislike the idea of people being held accountable for their crimes. He's managed to avoid his own accountability in certain cases (though not in all of them), and he's also pardoned several people who have either been proven guilty of crimes or pled guilty to them. Rubio is likely simply following the dictates of his boss in this endeavor.
But, what is still unclear is Why. Why is the ICC unlawful? Why should it be dismantled? What's the legal basis for this action? Further, if it is, in fact, ineffective, why does it need to be dismantled at all?
It seems to me, the only reason is that Trump wants it to be dismantled is so he can avoid accountability as he has done so often in the past. I've seen no other rationale offered, so I have no alternative to consider. Perhaps you, or someone who agrees with your position on this, can give me an alternative?
