  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump is Only angering them, and escalating it faster.. I would suggest Not poking the bear.

If war is inevitable, with America's enemies I would suggest not poking the bear..
I think Trump has just angered them, and they still have the capabilities.

I don't think women should vote, and for the few who understand, it's Not like they're gonna escape it.
It'd be more like, "I'll run, you stay here & get hit".

No one is going to survive a Nuclear Iran. I care about the people who will be next to me, in the event of a fallout.

At the same time, there are people I wouldn't be there for.
But, a Nuclear Iran is not something the world can survive.
And I think Trump just poked the bear. Sigh

Suppose there are women who agree with you. Would you encourage them to influence US foreign policy by voting in the upcoming Congressional election? If not, why not?
I have no idea what I think. I would encourage women to be non political. At the same time, I am not on the front lines. For those of us who really don't know what is going on..

No. I do not.
I wasn't responding to you.

The USA is the bear, and the evil murderous scumbags running Iran have been poking it for nearly fifty years. The window of opportunity for us to respond appropriately was about to close, and thank God Trump was in office to do it rather than another of the feckless or complicit people we've had in the past.

My apologies. I had thought that you were responding to me. I agree with you.

It would be nice if America stopped acting like Satan, only proving their point! For the record, America is not the bear. But, neither is Iran.
America is NOT acting like Satan.

Iran is far weaker today than they were several months ago.
Yes, in terms of raw power. However, as Iran has been able to slow traffic to a crawl in the Hormuz strait, a case can be made that this new found power over the strait has quite a bit of leverage. I imagine Yemen and even China are encouraged to know that they too could close off waterways.

A case can be also made that whatever leverage the IRGCC thinks they might have is also going away.

Yes, you could be right. The best path forward though seems to build alternatives to the strait, as is occurring. Otherwise, the USA is more likely to bear the costs of setting the strait free with our money and blood just for a few years of open seas. I will say too that the USA oil companies benefit immensely from Iran suppressing the strait traffic.
