  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's not Trump's war. Of course other countries have been consulted and are willing to pay as long as Iran is not a threat. Iran has been the unstable country of terrorism in the region for 47 years. It's very much economic for countries in the region.
Who actually declared war on Iran? It certainly was not the United States Congress on behalf of the American people. Thus, it is not a legal war by the United States of America against Iran. There is only one individual who made that declaration of war - the President of the United States, Donald Trump. In doing so, he openly violated the Constitution of the United States, which he had solemnly sworn to defend and uphold.

There has not been a declared war since World War II. Originally framers of the Constitution were going to give the authority to "make" war to Congress, but instead Congress was only given the power to "declare" war.

That is quite true. Why is it, then, that Mr. Trump declared war on Iran and has consistently referred to it as a war and not by some other euphemism?

Using this ploy, presidents have created such things as the "conflict" in Korea (which has never been resolved to date), the Vietnamese conflict (which was created during the presidency of John Kennedy and resolved by Richard Nixon), and various Middle Eastern conflicts, none of which were wars in the Constitutional sense, nor were they categorized as wars, other than the current war declared by Mr. Trump against Iran.

Ploy? The president is the commander-in-chief and has the power to militarily engage other countries, whether it is called a war or conflict or whatever is not relevant. Congress has the power to declare war and the power of the purse.

We shall see soon enough what the Supreme Court thinks of it.

Better to work together as Americans.
If this “working together” includes us shutting up and doing what we’re told, and believing everything that proceedeth from 47’s mouth…there’s going to be factions.

Oh no. It's Trump's "gut feeling" war.
Trump was warned by his own intel Israel is feeding him nonsense.
He chose his gut feeling.

Well, currently. That's why I'm leaning towards gauche to, hopefully, reduce the horrible.
I think conspicuous corruption is every bit as gauche as conspicuous consumption.
