  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone, I have experienced a spiritual attack as a Christian and I can say that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit some if intended by God can support some Christians with dealing with spiritual attacks to as well. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit, one of its roles is that it can provide protection. I was blessed with a gift at 17 by God of prophecy which includes the ability to help to protect me. God forewarned me by a vision the year before that I would enter into a battle with someone by showing me two people in a battle with each other, and I didn't quite understand it at that time as I am a non violent person in real life, but it became very clear after I experienced the spiritual attack the year later.

Spiritual attacks can happen to any Christian whether a minister or lay person in the church, it is not their fault. It does not discriminate and you have to pray for deliverance/protection from God from it and which the Holy Spirit can intercede on. The Holy Spirit will protect us so that we will persevere to the end. So don't feel bad if you have a spiritual attack. The fact that you were selected for the spiritual attack in fact shows that you are considered to be a Christian as well.

Contrary to thought of scholars like Hector Avalos Jesus can equip us to deal with modern day cruelty and spiritual wickedness and obstacles as Christians. Let me explain to you how he can do this. Before I start, remember we need to follow security protocols were we live as well and be sensible in the modern age of state terrorism, religious terrrosim and violence. fundamentalism and extremism and report real concerns to the police with security. I have studided to Conflict resolution, International Relations and Religion and I am a Christian and we need to be aware of our security in the modern day of afflications and we need to keep our Christian values close to our hearts.

The gift of discernment which is one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit was to active during this period, whether it continues only God will know on that, but the discernment was revealatory as well and could be enhanced by using Holy Water. Spiritual gifts are found in (1 Corinthians 12).

The way you can be blessed with a gift is to be baptised or receive the laying of hands as an adult and be committed to the faith.

I received religious abuse in February 2025 which was part of a spiritual attack and at times I thought I was alone at some times and desolate God's spirit would appear and then depart to another world above that Psalm 104 speaks of and I felt his love.

I also had a blessing with Holy Oil once a month at church and I also again drank Holy water daily received from the church blessed during this and I would pray and check in for a for time with God and then let my spirit decide with Psalm 24 if they needed anything to equip us through the week. I also did things to get me through and thought of good things and connected my pain to Christ’s suffering and it got me through which Christ wants us to do as Christians.

Then a miracle of God came and the words of the abuse that entered my body during the attack would just disappear in tracts sometimes overnight and the mental wounds would heal up of the pain by Christ alone and the Holy Spirit. I could hear the Holy Spirit coming to remove the words to at times if awake. We have a mysterious working and he God hates violence as Psalm 11 tells us and he will support those who are afflicted and not abandon them as Psalm tells us 37 in difficult times. Wounds healing and being equipped to cope in extreme trials happens time and again through Christ as it happened to with Saints such as Saint Agatha.

During this I too held onto Jeremiah’s promises for a plan for peace again and hope as my destiny (Jeremiah 29:11). I also thought about eternal life beyond earth with Christ. This was my own mission amongst extreme trials that the former Pope Francis to has spoken of too in the “Footsteps of Christ our Hope speech.”

I also hang onto how God preserved in the Old Testament as an example of fortitude and David's determination in his prayers in the Psalms in similar times helped me to cope to. I would recommend you to do this if you feel that you need to.

During this time of religious abuse I would also look after my spirit to and ask for a blessing at church and prayers to from the minister to and they were powerful tools. I would confess to what I was hearing as abuse to heal my soul. Give glory to God. I could have been injured, but I don’t think one part of my body was touched thanks be to the most merciful God. Life isn't as always sweet as roses as a Christian, but there is inner joy and peace with Christ which you cannot put a worldly price on.

I would start with reading the Our Father in Matthew 6 and like Jesus said say- Get thee Hence Satan (Matthew 4:10) and he also said come out to the demon (Matthew 8:16) and Jesus said-Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit (Mark 4 :8). I would recommend Psalm 51 for cleansing and Psalm 80 for urgent redemption and Psalm 91 to fight spiritual warfare and Psalm 4 weekly as wel for protection. You may also want to say the Authority of the believer prayer as well. There is also Psalm 24 for people dealing with Spiritual gifts. Perhaps can also contact a church minister.

In the New Testament Paul wrote this-Ephesians 6:12- "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Sometimes spiritual attacks can come from within and personal unresolved problems or they can come from the supernatural realm-but God and the Holy Spirit can help you with this wherever they come from, as they helped David to in the Old Testament whose many pleas for his spiritual attacks are found in the Psalms. You need help wherever they come from.

Is your Holy Spirit/Spirit in your body who approves the protective armour and defence of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Obtaining some Holy water at church might help, you often can get these at Catholic Church's usually and you can take a small bottle and fill it. Also, asking for a blessing to may be helpful if you feel the body has been left unclean. The Holy Eucharist and blood of Christ will help to and that which can be received in many church's.

You can get through it and hold onto to your faith-God is unchangeable and you will be ok. https://www.racheltestimony.com/2025/06/why-baptism-is-important-to-christian.html

Let's draw courage as well from Jesus’ words of courage to us that Satan's plan will never work for his Church-that is for the members and the church itself (Mat 16:18).

I read this extremely good article on how God can console you during a spiritual attack and he has it under control and sometimes, we need to be still and wait and God does he things silently at times. https://www.catholic.com/magazine/blog/spiritual-battle-isnt-flashy

Hi Rachel. I agree w/ a lot of what you say. We are really in a war. The Holy Spirit will protect us so that we will perservere to the end, but the enemy isn't joking around & we will stumble vs him b/c he doesn't like God's people & the work we're doing. We should be expecting him to strike back.

Really interesting thoughts DragonFox91.

When I experienced a spiritual attack God being so kind graced me for that time with a boost to my sensory hearing. At times it seemed as if I was being attacked and being relayed the abusive messages by a member in the body to attack me. They attempted to try and distort their voice-but underneath it God would show me their natural voice so I could hear who was attacking me. I heard the voice of a couple of men behind the members in the body who relayed their attack message. The Holy water would always reveal to who was sending these abusive messages. I am doing much better now.

Hhmmm....when I was younger, like in my teen years, I sometimes saw visions when I was awake and aware. It was so strange, I thought that it must be God doing that to me because I have no power in and of myself to generate visions. Is this what is called being a Seer?

Not really sure if that is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit though.

It has it roots in Seer prophecy-but I think it comes under prophecy today which is one of the 8 gifts of the Holy Spirit in (1 Corithians 12) and (Romans 12:6-8). There is different ways to be have this gift and some may receive messages orally and some may be more visual and receive visions. Sorry for replying so late. Seer prophecy is mentioned in (1 Samuel 9:9).

How to find what our spiritual gift(s) are
Could we go as far as saying every person has a unique gift? Just search yourself and see. Some have greater gifts than other.
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. - Matthew 25

I have firm belief in spiritual gifts. Where do we find in the bible what they are or where to go find them.

Finding Godly people to lay hands on you, pray, and believe for one...

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. - 1 Timothy 4:14
