  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Real hatred towards certain people is not wrong (proof from the Bible)

You're the pharisee who takes the popular view. The pharisees wanted to look righteous in the eyes of men, that's what you're doing. It's doesn't take much enlightenment or intelligence to read Psalm 139. If you have a problem with that you have a problem with God not me because I didn't write the Bible.
Careful, this type of response is contrary to the rules of the forum. Personal attacks are not allowed. A wise man once said in a sermon, when speaking of or to others, particularly to those who believe, it is better to kind than right. We are commanded to be kind but never commanded to be right but to approach with grace and humility.

Just in case you didn't know... fallen angels were not always fallen. Originally they were good when they were created but aferwards decided to rebel.
Yes, and this is from you in the OP "you could conclude that hatred in and of itself should not be bad if God gave people emotions, hatred being one of them. God would not create something bad that shouldn't exist." God created Satan, who then turned bad. God created our feelings, but you say that they cannot turn bad because God created them.

Things God created can become bad.

Please read the parable of the weeds and the wheat. Understand the source of each and the end result. Hopefully the parable will open your eyes.
Nonsense. Everyone deserves the gospel.

Okay, let me ask you a qestion. Is it bad to follow Psalm 139? It's the word of God, at least for you if you claim the name of Christ. If you don't believe it then get another religion, believe in Buddhism or something where hatred is always viewed as bad. I don't want to view hatred as bad because I don't want to be a virtue-signalling hypocrite.

It's part of the Gospel message, so I'm not too concerned at this point.
Nevertheless, Israel does deserve the gospel in terms of being able to hear it and have the opportunity to repent. Conversion is another matter.

Are you disputing my point? I said that things God created can turn bad, and I am citing Satan as an example to prove the point.

Your point is that if God created our feelings, hatred is good. I am disputing you on that point, because we can feel like doing utterly immoral things, the fact that we feel like it is not enough to make those things good.

And I didn't say they don't deserve to hear the Gospel.

Then why stop at Psalm 139?

Psalm 137:9 “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks”

I'm using the Bible to justify my hatred. If you disagree, then I would like to hear your definition of "perfect hatred." I mean if you claim to believe the Bible (I guess that is why you are on this forum to begin with) then you should believe 100% what it says and not pick and choose. It's either all or nothing. If you don't hate some people then you're not normal because everyone hates somebody, that is just what it means to be a human.

Bibliology & Hermeneutics

From the SOP of the Hermeneutics link - "The purpose of Hermeneutics is to prevent us from improperly applying scripture to a particular situation."

I mean if you claim to believe the Bible (I guess that is why you are on this forum to begin with) then you should believe 100% what it says and not pick and choose. It's either all or nothing.
The definition of a Christian for the purposes of Christian forums is on here Terms and rules .

From the same link "Stating or implying that another Christian member, or group of members, are not Christian is not allowed."

People can become Christians without ever seeing the Bible, it is certainly not a requirement for a Christian to believe that the Bible instructs us to nuture hatred of other human beings.

If you don't hate some people then you're not normal because everyone hates somebody, that is just what it means to be a human.
You are correct that I am not normal, I dispute the notion that the concept applies to human beings, it is definitely not a requirement for Christian faith. The subject is does the Bible instruct us to hatred? We all sin, the Bible does not recommend sin as something God wants us to do.

Incidentally I do not claim not to hate anybody either, I just claim the Bible does not instruct us to do it.

So it is your position the payable is nonsense and Christ taught falsely?
No. The parable of the weeds and wheat illustrates how good and evil coexist in the world and explains that God will allow them to grow together until the final judgment. However, humans are often unable to distinguish between the two perfectly, or may cause more harm than good in their attempts to eradicate evil. The gospel must be preached to both for this reason. God will perfectly execute final judgment and justice at the end of time.

The nonsense is to believe that the parable can give you the answer of who is who. God knows the heart, you don’t.

The parable is about more than you say, yet that is the common and easy preaching point. I did not say who was who nor that I knew, however some are shown as God's crop so to speak and some have been shown by His enemy. I did not imply the gospel is not to be preached or shared with all although not all will receive it and only God knows whose heart is fertile to receive the word. In the words of Charles Spurgeon, of which I will need to paraphrase, God has not put a mark I can see on those he is saving so I cannot selectively preach the Gospel. Wish I had the actual quote with me. However there are some whom God hates. It is quite clear in scripture. I suppose the question is does it then fall to us as humans to hate some people. At the very least we must live all to the extent to share the Gospel with them regardless of their actions. Yet we are told to not linger in that with those who reject but not told to hate. Given what I know, I would say that while God does hate some that we are called to not hate.

My brother we are talking past each other. My posts were in response to what the other poster wrote and you took my posts to mean something else. I agree with what you wrote in this post, primarily with your acknowledgement that the gospel must be preached to all and that we are called not to hate.

@BibleBeliever1611 still waiting for you to explain Psalm 137:9 “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks”.

By your standard of interpretation, someone can claim biblical justification for their murdering of infants in the same manner in which you justify your hatred.

I'm using the Bible to justify my hatred.

That's obvious.

People use the Bible to justify evil in lots of ways.

Even Satan did that when he tried to tempt Jesus in the desert.

The question isn't whether or not you are using the Bible to justify your sin, but why.

So... where did you get the idea that hatred is sinful? Do you have any verse on that?

And I don't really think it matters why someone would be using the Bible to justfy something. If the most sacred scripture that has ever been written in human history says something, then I think it's safe to say that you can use that as a defense or justification of your actions. If God be with us who can be against us. In other words, if you use the Bible to justify your actions, that proves that your actions are right. It's the same as if a lawyer used the law of the government to justify that someone is guilty or innocent, why would that be wrong? Even the idea that the Bible could be used as a personal defense or a weapon is, itself, a biblical principle seen in Ephesians about the armor of God. So I can even defend the idea that I can defend myself with the Bible in the first place.
