Kennedy Center exterior remains covered after Trump’s name is removed​

Tim Terpstra, a Washington resident who lives nearby, arrived at the center for the second time this weekend, hoping that the tarps had been removed. “It would be nice to be able to see to make sure that it is down, and no vestiges of what was up there still remain,” he said.

CNN has reached out to the Kennedy Center for comment about why the tarp is still up.

Trump’s DOJ sinks to pathetic new lows in Kennedy Center imbroglio

President Donald Trump and the DOJ are continuing a desperate attempt to keep his name on the famed performing arts center.

You see, the administration has a new new theory on why Trump’s name has to stay on the building, one that was, apparently, not revealed to the lower court, but popped up in the DOJ’s last-minute filing.

Here’s a little taste: “The District Court is not allowing us to close in order to properly fix up and repair the Building, including potentially life threatening structural damage like beams and parking garage ceilings that are rusted, and in serious danger of falling onto people below — Indeed, total collapse!”

That is, you will likely note, not actually a legal argument in favor of keeping Trump’s name on a building whose name can only be changed by an act of Congress. The legal argument, such as it is, is the reveal that they secretly changed the Center’s bylaws...

The whole "tarp" in its form designed to look "OK" while remaining implies it was intended to be left up for a while, so damage in removal is unlikely to be from removal damage.

I don't know what it takes to repair marble, but generally speaking, it's much easier and faster to hang something up than it is to take it down and make it look as if it was never there.

The "tarp" has a crisp, symmetric form with neat little stripes tastefully colored to look OK against the building long term. If they just wanted to block the view of the workers in the process of the letter removal, a standard temporary construction tarp would have done the job to block the view. Blocking the work from view (or some sort of safety requirement) was what I thought they were up to when I went to bed that night. When I saw the pictures of the "tarp" the next morning, it was clear to me that Trump had no intent of letting anyone see the facade restored to its him-free form. The wounded ego of that petty, narcissistic, doddering old man has no bounds.
