  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Real hatred towards certain people is not wrong (proof from the Bible)

We are never called to hate people, but just the things that God hates, except when it starts to cross a line to us hating people, or certain people, because then we need to dial back our hatred a bit until that issue is resolved, and it's up to each individual alone in their own heart to decide when they are doing that, and when they are, dial it back a bit until that issue is completely resolved.

Really, I don't know if we have a right to hate at all, but that's just me I guess. We're certainly not qualified judges, etc. If you find something unjust happening or going on, then, yeah, maybe try to take steps to fix it, or solve it/resolve it, but that can be done without hatred in your heart really.

God Bless.

Another thing you need to consider, is that you're quoting the words of David, and in the OT, and whenever you're doing that, you need to remember the scripture (in the NT) that talks about God overlooking some sins of the past at that time, sins like hatred, and adultery (allowing polygamy for the powerful, etc) but that it says we're actually called to a higher standard in the NT now, and not a lower one, one that has to do with certain sins that happen/begin in the heart, etc. Jesus mentioned a few of them, etc. One having to do with hatred in the heart, etc (and the other having to do with adultery, etc) And it's because we're held to an even higher standard now, and not a lesser one, etc. But is one having much more to do with sins that start to happen/exist in the heart, more than it does all of the much more visible stuff, etc. Not that that stuff isn't still important, but God has always been after our hearts, etc, and that's what's most important, and is the real true way under the NC. Unfortunately, a lot of people miss this, and is why I think we're going to see a lot of christians, and even a lot of christian pastors/teachers/leaders, in hell, etc, and with a lot of the other much more outwardly sinful people, getting in before any of them, etc, so you need to be very, very careful who you follow/listen to nowadays right now, especially with what politics is doing with religion and most especially christianity in America right now, etc.

God Bless.

I often don't understand what people mean by Christians in hell. When you're one, how would that be possible? Maybe you're talking about the ones that confess Jesus with their mouths but their hearts are actually far away from him?

I agree. People who call themselves Christians, but don't recognise or believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, what we sometimes call "nominal Christians", will, unless they come to believe in the Saviour, go to hell. But Jesus said:

(Joh 6:47 NKJV) Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.

Somebody who genuinely believes in Jesus Christ cannot end up in hell.

Absolutely and what I don't like is often I've noticed people who really are genuine Christians but are getting trapped in this fear and intrusive thoughts about hell because some Christians will always put it out there, making sure you get rid of every single sin today because you're gonna go there. It's a day by day process and the holy spirit is leading us there and Jesus makes sure we learn it with compassion and joy. Not fear and dread but that's just my take.

Sorry, I guess I should have said "quote/unquote" and put it in quotes, or so-called, or something like that, etc. I thought about it, but decided not to ultimately. But point being is, that just calling yourself one, or saying so with your lips (but whose, again, "hearts", are far removed from him) Anyway, lip service or even planting yourself in a church, isn't what always makes you a christian if it hasn't reached/converted your heart yet, etc, was more my point, etc.

To tell you what I think "hell" actually is, or why some people actually go there (or don't) or why it's eternal, would take a little bit more work, so I'm not going to get into it (again) yet here, etc.

God Bless.

Yes, this is what I meant. Sorry.

If it hasn't reached the heart yet, it means nothing, etc.

God Bless.

Now you're just putting words into my mouth. I never said you should hate all enemies.
:doh:The list continues? Check your OP.
I just believe whatever the Bible says and if you don't then I wonder why you would call yourself a Christian in the first place or go to a Christian forum since this book called the Bible is the central book of the religion of Christianity.
I believe the Bible but I don’t believe your interpretation. You are out there on the fringes or maybe a bit beyond.

What’s the dividing line between those that are to receive the full measure of hatred and those who are not to ?

First, I am no better than any, nor my faith any better. But this discussion reminds me why I am a Progressive. I do not take the Bible as written word for word exactly as God desired. All Christians accept the canon. How we read it varies. As we all see demonstrated here disputing what it says. I don’t lock in to inerrancy. I lock in to kindness and charity and grace. I see those three principles deeply woven throughout Scripture within stories and essays which have their own errors and flaws. It’s up to sincere Christians to listen for the Word of God as they seek to grow in faith by using the Scripture

Can you just think about how absurd what you're saying sounds? So don't hate mass murderers, don't hate pehophiles, don't hate racists, just don't hate anybody.

There is a religion that teaches that all hatred is bad and that religion is called Buddhism, so I think you're on the wrong forum.

There is a such thing as making a move to try and change something while not having hate about it in your heart, etc, and that is, in fact, when your the most level-headed/cool-headed, or fair/just, or are thinking logically and are doing the best at your thinking/decision making, etc, so I'll just leave you with that, ok.

And I still stand by hating the acts themselves, and not the person, etc. And also still stand by the fact that we're not qualified judges, etc.

So are you better than God? Because God obviously hates some people. The purpose of hell & damnation is punishment and vengeance. If God never hated anybody then hell wouldn't exist. But it does.

Hell exists because freewill exists & the will of the creature must be honored. The purpose of damnation is to send the unjust to Hell because our God is a just God. Hell is what people get when what they think they want is not God; it’s the finalization of that desire.

It’s not about being better than God. It’s understanding that Gods emotional nature is perfect & mine is not. Quick question, does God ever call you to hate other people? I know it says God hates workers of iniquity but does the Lord ever specifically call on you to hate like He does? No & that’s because we’re children & we don’t tell the Father how to go about doing things. What he does tell you to do, hundreds of times over, is do good & love one another.

You can hate murder & adultery, call on the sinner for repentance, & support righteous judgment all at the same time. None of these things are mutually exclusive.
