CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The headline may now be out ot date. I've said previously (maybe on a different thread) that the weak point of this agreement was that it required peace in Lebanon. I was hoping Iran wouldn't take that seriously. If they do, the agreement can't work. This negotiation can't solve all the problems in the area around Israel. The only way it can work is to decouple winding down the Iran war from things around Israel. If Iran isn't willing to do that, we have no solution.
Iran says they've closed the Strait again. Vance says they haven't. There's some data supporting Vance, though traffic is far below pre-war days (something he seemed to deny in a Fox intreview). If Vance is right, we could have a workable deal. But if they close the Strait every time there's an issue in the Mideast, we've got a problem with no obvious solution.

Yup. Now he's trying to get loose. It remains to be seen whether he can.
Iran is going to use control of the Straits to try and force Trump to rein in Bibi. I don't think Trump can actually do that. But it's also not clear that Iran has actually closed the Strait. If they simply make bellicose statements but don't actually attack ships, we might be OK.
As of this Sunday morning, there are some reports of ships continuing to move, apparently through channels on the Omani side, and no reports of attacks against ships. But Iran says they've closed the Strait, and the US says Iran doesn't control the Straits.

I know it's all about bibi and trump but the Gulf neighbors in the area were also invested in the war and the memo.
