  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Multiple people have been arrested this weekend after allegedly vandalizing the newly refurbished Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, prompting a strong response from President Donald Trump and an increase in security at the site.

In a statement on Truth Social Saturday night, Trump announced "many additional people" have been arrested after suspects "took some form of knife or blade, and put a 250-foot-long gash into the beautiful facade of what took so much work, competence, and money to build and complete."

The president also alleged suspects "poured corrosive and destructive chemicals" into the basin.

More acts of vandalism from you know who. Most likely more acts against America and its monuments and Independence Day festivities will take place. Perhaps even to the level of domestic terrorism.

It gets worse. The people pouring in corrosive chemicals are paid by the government itself. Talk about some deep state actors.

There's video evidence.

So you're trying to conflate those being paid to maintain the pool using water treatment chemicals, with vandals trying to destroy the pool coating with corrosisives.

Hydrogen peroxide is used to strip paint.

Do you have video evidence of anyone else putting "corrosisives" into the reflection pool?

One of 2 things will happen:
1. charges will be dropped. Trump people wont be told by their media.
2. this will go to trial where the admins total bungling of this situation will be in evidence. Trump people wont be told by their media.

People removed "souvenir" pieces of paint that were already peeling off from the botched attempts to control the algae that had come right back after the presidents failed "renovation"..

No I don’t know who. Could you be more specific of who you suspect and what were some of this person’s other known acts of vandalism?

Try to contain your excitement.

It’s believed the hydrogen peroxide that’s been used to treat the algae is what is stripping the blue paint off the bottom. Just another example of this administration shooting itself in the foot and hoping you guys don’t notice or don’t care.

This is pure propaganda . You can not take paint off a surface unless there has already been a catastrophic failure of adhesion.Vandals( supposedly) can't easily peel a surface that is properly bonded to concrete; it requires the paint to already be lifting, bubbling, or separating from the substrate. The situation with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool highlights a classic material and chemical failure rather than a coordinated act of destruction.
According to both Hearn and eyewitness accounts, he was a curious citizen on a bicycle ride who stopped to examine the massive sheets of rubbery blue coating that were already detached and floating.
Additionally, government workers poured massive amounts of peroxide to mitigate the algae not " vandals". Let us reason please!

Blessings

Diluted hydrogen peroxide does not strip moisture-cured polyurethane.

Perhaps it wasn’t yet cured?

Point is we only have evidence of the h2o2 being poured in the last few days and that is a known paint stripper and zero evidence of any bad actors sabotaging the monument.

From google:

How Peroxide Paint Removers Work
Peroxide-based paint removers penetrate multiple layers of tough finishes (including polyurethane, epoxy, and acrylic) by oxidizing the bond between the paint and the underlying surface. [1, 2]
  • Environmental & Safety Benefits: Unlike harsh chemical strippers, they are often water-based, biodegradable, non-flammable, and emit low VOCs. [1]
  • Applications: They are widely used in the aerospace and marine industries, as well as on various metal, wood, and concrete surfaces. [1, 2]
  • Commercial Products: If you are tackling a tough stripping job, you can utilize commercial, peroxide-activated removers like Sea to Sky SPC-909N or Cee-Bee E-2060. [1, 2]

Cautions and Best Practices
While safe for many applications, concentrated hydrogen peroxide requires careful handling:
  • Surface Damage: High-concentration peroxide can bleach, lift, or permanently damage materials like unsealed wood, carpet fibers, and fabrics. [1, 2, 3]
  • Skin and Eye Hazards: Concentrated solutions (10% and above) cause severe skin burns and respiratory irritation. Always wear appropriate PPE, including gloves and safety goggles, when handling commercial strippers. [1, 2]
  • Pools and Liners: Never use hydrogen peroxide to remove paint or treat algae in swimming pools or reflecting pools; it destroys pool paint jobs, causes peeling, and creates hazardous conditions.

Peroxide is far less likely to cause the moisture-cured polyurethane to peel than solvents used for such purposes.

The monument is under 24 hour video surveillance. Shouldn’t be too hard to spot the person(s) that had to have poured in hundreds of gallons of solvent to get the concentration levels needed to strip an industrial polyurethane coating.

That's peroxide-activated, benzyl alcohol paint and primer remover designed for removal of durable polyurethane and epoxy paint systems. That's not what the workers were putting in the pool to fight algae.
