  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A usual phenomenon that happens during every world championship. The people of the US quickly lose interest once their team is out.

Not sure about that as they remain the hosts this time.

Just about to watch US - Australia (since I have relatives in both not sure which one to support). If Australia win, USA could be playing Iran so long as they beat Turkey. USA has the home advantage but I really do not know which of the two I prefer. May the best team win

We had no interest to lose. Over half the population don't know it's here.

I get all the games streaming, but only in Spanish of which I dont speak a word. Except maybe I could say hello to a burrito, or similar. Its almost better tho as I can track the game just by the commenters word rate.

For me it was a bit misleading at first. The Spanish language broadcast starts a half hour earlier and some (far from all) of the nations names are not immediately recognizable in Spanish.

Fooled me for the opening game.

I's say it shows a lot more interest from the Spanish speaking people. They are willing to deal with a half hour more of ads and talking heads per match.

Today I’m Australian.
I don't know if you heard but you can likely expect some VERY entertaining chants from the OZzies about political leaders. I've heard the Scots have a few up their sleeves as well.

Oh yeah I’m well aware lol. That’s one of the best reasons I want them to win today and stay in this tournament.

USA deserved the win. The Aussies did not have a clue on how to convert all the chances they made. It got quite heated at the end - impressive tally of yellows for both sides. The Americans don't hug when they score. They sort of hi five - some kind of idea about inappropriate contact or something, I have seen it every time NASA does something great in space - the celebration always looks a little standoffish - that stands out compared to other teams.

You don't get to call "spoilers" with the world cup. Just watch it live.
