CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

PRICE OF WEST TEXAS CRUDE by the Barrel - graph reflects prices over a 1 year (up to June 2026)
1) The price of oil may be decreasing but the above graph indicates that it still remains well above those that preceded this conflict that commenced on February 28th 2026!
2) The agreement may allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz but insurance companies will insist that the Strait be swept for Iranian mines - some estimates are as high as 6 months!
3) insurance premiums alone have increased from 0.25% of a vessel's value to 3% to 5% - a 12X to 20X that could total $8 million per ship, increase that the consumer will pay!
4) Unlike much of the world, America is not dependent on oil from Iraq - although the US remains the world's largest source of oil that only supplies 60% of the demand with Canada providing an additional 4 million barrels/daily!
5) The price of oil is set worldwide, even if nations like the US and Canada aren't dependent on supplies going through the Straits of Hormuz, but for those nations where Iraq is their primary source are now forced to compete for a reduced world supply, driving up the price!
6) Given that President Trump is on the public record having stated at least 38 times that Iran is close to signing an agreement, it should come as no surprise that the rest of the world remains skeptical about anything that comes out of his mouth!
7) Many believe that the flood of these announcements were nothing more than President Trump attempting to influence the DOW and public opinion to his advantage by providing false progress reports!
8) In retrospect, it was the denials of an imminent agreement, issued by the Iranian leadership, who have never been held in high esteem, that ultimately proved to be far more credible than the repeated false claims made by this American President - a rather sad commentary!
9) The fluctuations in the price of oil in the above graph are a reflection of President Trump's repeated false claims that a signed agreement with Iran was imminent!
-10) For a nation that the Trump Administration would have us believe had been reduced to a "basket case" desperate for peace, that doesn't explain as to why Iran stretched the negotiations from early March to the middle of June!
11) President Trump criticized and revoked the Obama Agreement during his first term but is now reluctant to reveal the terms of this recent deal - leaked copies indicate that apparently the American negotiators were instructed to be far more generous in this updated version!
12) For a President who prides himself in "The Art of the Deal" Trump has already come under intense criticism for ignoring advice that the Iranians would close the Straits of Hormuz in response to an American-Israeli attack!
13) America's allies in the Middle East who were already provoked at the turmoil and rocket attacks resulting from Trump's bombing of Iran, they are also dismayed at the President's unilateral peace agreement that reportedly would make Iran an even a greater threat in the future!
14) In addition to providing Iran with a number of financial inducements to seal the "DEAL," the opening the Strait of Hormuz appears to be Iran's only concession! It would have remained open if Trump had not attacked it on February 28th!
15) Ultimately this appears to be an agreement in name only - it postpones addressing many of those contentious issues and stated goals that prompted President Trump to attack Iran it in the first place!

Iranian resistance leader Alireza Jafarzadeh said the real war is the one between Iran's current regime and its people.
While the regime is weaker, militarily, those in charge are more violent than those that were killed.
One part, many don't like in Iran is, #2.
2. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America undertake to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to refrain from interfering in each other's internal affairs.
The internal affairs includes how the regime puts down protesters and the want protection included in any deal.
