The prices of crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) plunged in early trading on Monday following the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that a deal had been reached to end the war with Iran and reopen the Straight of Hormuz.

Brent crude fell to $83 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate dropped to $80 a barrel. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices also declined.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump declared on Truth Social. “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

However, the president added in a second post on Truth Social that the strait would be opened "upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal." Only then, "oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!"

The deal includes an end to "military operations" in Lebanon, however, Israel as of 10 minutes ago attacked Lebanon and states their forces will stay indefinitely. So I don't know how this deal is going to be signed on Friday when Israel doesn't look like is agreeing to it.

Nothing for Trump to be proud of. This began when he pulled out of the JCPOA. Now, Trump signs a deal not as good as the JCPOA. He will claim that his deal is the greatest deal ever

I'm thinking Iran is just using this deal to move their oil to China, get some cash and regroup. If they are not going to give up nuclear material and the right to acquire nuclear weapons it does nothing but bring more pain to everyone later.

So who has the advantage in this deal? I would say Iran if it can move its ships out faster and get the replacements in for the next leg of this conflict. They already are talking about tolls after the 60 day period. which if true will just be like groundhog day with more money and storage capacity for Iran. The west depleted much of its oil in storage. It will take many months if not years to restore these supplies. I want to be optimistic but that requires everyone to operate in good faith. Of course the deal is not public so who knows. Not being transparent appears suspicious; that someone is embarrassed about what it contains.

Iran isn't going to get a dime of money nor sanctions lifted until they show that they are complying with the peace deal they signed.

As of this morning, looks like this deal is still not going to get done. Trumps upset at Israel for refusing to pull out of Lebanon and Israel isn't budging on it.

Glad the strait is opening back up but its only a matter of time till it closes again.

They’ll get the income from oil we have been blockading. If we don’t let them get oil out, they’ll put back the general closure of Hormuz, and the whole thing collapses. Sanctions relief is part of the next phase. They will have to happen or there won’t be a second phase.

But that still isn't enough allow them to rebuild their military. We can put the blockade back as soon as they violate the agreement.

A lot depends upon how the US interprets it. If Trump is mad enough at Netanyahu he could say it’s not a violation of the agreement if Irans proxies respond to Israel. That would decouple Iran from Israel, and let us get out. It’s not clear to me whether we’re willing to go that way.

So can they.I’m not sure what you think they will violate. Theres no nuclear deal yet, but I’m not convinced they think a nuclear bomb is essential. Israel is sure to do something that Iran can use as justification to unleash their folks around Israel.

We inserted ourselves to stop the back and forth. I highly doubt that we're looking for an out. Trump is also never a person to just let fighting continue when he can try and solve it. He is FAR too arrogant to let that go/slide and take the loss of intervention.

They have to turn over the enriched uranium dust before they get one cent, and the oil revenues they receive from China and Russian will be watched closely. They also have to turn over the enriched uranium, or the peace agreement stops. Would you rather that Iran develops a nuclear Bomb, to justify hatred for Trump?

I think Iran has decided nuclear weapons aren’t essential,. So this won’t be an issue. We’ll see. I’m betting they’ll turn over the nuclear material to Russia. The main problem is Lebanon. That depends upon how Trump decided to deal with it. If he’s willing to decouple Iran from Israel things could work out

This is far weaker than the JCPOA. The regime is more violent now. There is no alliance of world powers to help ensure Iran is in compliance. It will cost the US citizens far more than the JCPOA. There is no actual deal, right now. Everything is up in the air until finally negotiations are completed.

Things are not better than before the first bombs fell.
