  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump Fumes Over NYT Report Exposing His Team’s Epstein Meltdown

Early Wednesday morning, MS NOW host Joe Scarborough mentioned the [NYT] report on his show, Morning Joe. Less than an hour later, Trump attacked Scarborough on Truth Social, calling him "one of the most inaccurate detailers of truthful facts on television."

"Ohhhh, that actually sort of affirms the reporting that this is something you cannot mention around the president of the United States," Scarborough added. "We just read what Maggie and Jonathan wrote about Epstein. Is that what that was?"

The Times article is a detailed look at how Trump's inner circle met in the Situation Room to handle each development regarding Epstein and the government's files on the billionaire sex offender. Shouting matches, arguments, efforts to get different officials fired, and clashing strategies are all outlined in the article, which is based on reporting from the forthcoming book Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, by reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan. The main thesis of the article is that Trump could not make the public forget about Epstein, no matter what he did, and he continued to prove that Wednesday morning.

[The original NYT article is linked in the OP. It's long and pulls together a few more details about things we've seen along the way, but with a much more insider feel. Bongino has a potty mouth if you don't care for that sort of language.]

Right next to Capital One Arena in Chinatown now sits the Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room, an exhibit that moved from New York to Washington this week.

The exhibit, which organizers extended to run through June 14, houses 3.5 million pages of documents released by the Department of Justice documenting Epstein’s years of sex crime operations. Those documents are housed in 3,437 bound volumes displayed on several bookshelves within the exhibit, which David Garrett with the Institute for Primary Facts, the group behind the exhibit, said is meant to demonstrate the scale of Epstein’s crimes in a physical form.

To understand how concerned they were with defusing Trump's Epstein problem, they literally met in the situation room, aka, the war room.
Yet, Trump officials were literally leaking what was unfolding in the war room with reporters. Let that marinate.
And btw, can someone tell be why the then head of DOJ, the second in command and the FBI director are there in the first place?
Or is that a rhetorical question?

O Lordy, there might be tapes.

Scoop: Trump aides fear Haberman and Swan obtained Situation Room tapes for "Regime Change"

link2

[Axios] reported White House officials believe New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan obtained tapes of Situation Room discussions for their book "Regime Change," due out June 23. Independent recording devices are forbidden in the room, which Axios noted would make such a leak "a shocking breach" of one of the world's most protected settings.

[In the Trump era, not that shocking.]

White House officials have not disputed the accuracy of the quoted dialogue

Haberman and Swan declined to comment.
