• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Carefully reach out for faithful and qualified Christian counseling. I came across an organization I have linked. Unfortunately they seem a bit overwhelmed but they also seem to have information on other contacts.

It is ok to for people to feel sadness and Christians are called to help one another ( Galatians 6:1-10). I pray I could do better but hope i can at least do something.

This is a fallen world. Stuff happens. God doesn’t cause all pain but that is what makes us who we are. Life for some is a disappointment. Some of us never become any where near respectable. Life doesn’t allow it. But it’s up to us to forgive Him and make the best of it. Jesus reaches just where we are and give joy and hope. A good attitude helps but not blaming. You could have it really bad for all I know. If you’re overwhelmed we have to take some responsibility. If you can’t do it then just keep believing. You not a failure if you are alive and trying. Bitterness is not a good teacher. Homeless people, MI people, prisoners, sinners, paralyzed people do better with the lord. I guess they don’t really make it in life but they have a place in the kingdom.

dont expect so much. I keep lowering my expectations trying to find a goal I can accomplish. I do accomplish little things. I feel like a loser but it’s only by faith that im still going. What is your gift?

Maybe you should try out counselling.

Also last year was a very dark year for me and my family. I replied today to one of your previous posts that I started commanding what I wanted to see. If its peace of mind you can command that. You should be willing to put in the effort and command it everyday preferably if you have time in the morning after you wake up. For me the darkness of last year that seemed impossible to change , changed for the better this year after I started commanding for the changes and so many things on my list changed one by one.

There are two things I try to remember that generally help me get through the pain of past abuse. One, often the abuse we've gone through can end up being useful to learn from so we can comfort others who have gone through similar circumstances. Two, not everything that happens in life is God's will. People are free agents and some of them choose to do very harmful things despite the fact that God made rules against them and said that He would punish people severely for breaking those rules. (Mark 9:42, Matthew 18:6-7) God can use even the evil people commit against us for good in the end (Genesis 50:20), but that doesn't mean He planned or wanted it to happen.
