"The safety and soundness of the markets" make me chuckle. The markets are under siege from government interference - from money printing to the USA government taking stakes in select companies. Recently, Fannie and Freddie too were directed to purchase 200 billion in mortgage backed securities. President Trump Directs MBS Purchases to Lower Mortgage Rates
The SEC makes the market safe, yet here we have statistical anomalies showing insider trading is gong on from the Trump administration leaking information. Pulte's job has very little to do with that but in no way are the markets (physically or philosophically) safe and secure.
Talk about padding a resume.

This appointment is a mad proposal.

USA will be very vulnerable with Pulte and other unqualified political yes-men in critical national security positions. Adversaries must be laughing.

Hopefully USA gets lucky and skates through this era where competent adults have been marginalized in favor of sycophants and looters.

Wiles is preparing to quit because she was "vehemently" opposed to the promotion of Bill Pulte from the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency to the role of acting Director of National Intelligence, three White House insiders told the Daily Mail.

She perceived it as an "insult" when Trump followed through on the Pulte promotion, and Trump had already been starting to "resent" her opposition, the Mail reported.
