  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Police and militant groups affiliated with the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza have beaten and executed a number of Palestinians during the war with Israel. According to the UN, which issued the report, this may amount to war crimes.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva has documented hundreds of crimes in the Gaza Strip. The report says Islamist group Hamas has broken knees and shattered bones with iron pipes among people suspected of collaborating with Israel, stealing relief supplies or belonging to rival groups.
The UN commission recorded 249 cases, 108 of which were fatal, and found that a quarter of the cases involved known Hamas representatives. The report also includes other armed groups.
The investigation presented on Tuesday covers the period August 2024 to January 2026.

Both Hamas and Israel are guilty of horrible war crimes. Both are as bad as the other.
That opinion is not even close to the truth. IMO, your opinion reflects an antisemitic bias.

I am at presently reading Omer Bartov's newly released book, "Israel. What went wrong?'.
Omer is an Israeli genocide scholar, who has spent many years studying and lecturing on the Holocaust. In this book, he explains how he came to the realization that what had learned about the Nazis treatment of the Jews, he was seeing repeated by Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. He explores the transformation of Zionism from a movement of Jewish liberation and emancipation into a state ideology of ethno-nationalism, exclusion and violent domination of Palestinians.
As an Israeli Jew, he is hardly antisemitic. As a world-renowned historian of genocide, he demands a hearing by all. I highly recommend this disturbing book.

Israel, (in your opinion), is blameless with regard to civilian Palestinians deaths in Gaza?

Sadly, it appears most people are ignoring this horror in Gaza by Hamas.
My eyes are open, but there's not much anyone can do about either side in the conflict. I hope they all get trials at the Hague.

Anyway, I thought the UN was untrustworthy?

What would someone need to do to qualify as not ignoring Hamas?
Acknowledge it. I've seen a lot of people flat refuse to accept that Hamas is doing anything against the people of Gaza and JUST blame Israel.
