  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Joshua Broome, a former porn addict and adult-film star turned pastor, took to social media to warn that marriage isn’t “a safe place to keep lusting” or “a clean outlet for an unclean appetite.” In a June 4 Instagram post, the author of “7 Lies That Will Ruin Your Life” shared Bible-based advice for husbands about cherishing, not “consuming,” their wives.

The real danger of pornography and masturbation, Broome wrote, is the lie that “sex is something you take for yourself, from an image, on demand.” Instead of just looking at dirty images, he said, “You are training your heart to consume. And a heart trained to consume does not switch off at the bedroom door. It walks in with you.”

Joshua Broome, 43, worked in the adult film industry for six years before coming to faith in Jesus. Now a husband and father of four sons, he often talks about the importance of purity and the destructive nature of pornography and sexual sin.

“If you have spent years training yourself to consume people, you do not get to flip a switch on your wedding day,” Broome told men in his June 4 post. “You will project what you practiced. A screen taught your eyes to take, to rate, to use. So now the woman in your bed becomes one more thing to use.”
