CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, maybe he hasn't received that diagnosis. I question the transparency of the White House. And Trump looks verrry sleepy these days, while Biden is wide awake! (I kid, I kid!)

This reminds me of Trump saying that by stopping COVID testing, the number of reported cases would decrease. So not releasing a diagnosis would seem to be on brand. There is no dementia if there is no reported diagnosis!

This is "since Biden seems to have dementia, Trump must have it too!". All one has to do is watch the last Biden vs Trump presidential debate to discern the vast difference between the two. Any notion that Trump is struggling the way Biden did is pure fantasy. As for the op topic, him being terminal in any way is also just wishful fantasy.
Making stuff up about him just strips away the credibility of possibly legitimate issues and complaints.

No, the notion that Trump is struggling the way Biden did is not pure fantasy. Yes, there was the debate in 2024 but there was also the debate in 2020, where many/most feel Biden won the debates. The evidence would seem to be that Biden was sharp in 2020 and he slowly declined over his four years as President, and by 2024 was reportedly showing signs of "Sundowner's Syndrome," that he was sharp during the day but had issues in the evening and night hours.
The facts are the Trump is showing many of the same symptoms Biden showed during his presidency -- and Trump being sharp in 2024 doesn't preclude the fact, much like Biden, that Trump is in decline. The other point, though, is that Trump keeps bragging about how well he does on dementia tests -- though he tries to claim they are intelligence tests and that he does better than any president before him would be able to do. Despite Trump's claims, it is a test designed to show if a person is suffering from dementia. Assuming Trump is being honest, then it would appear he does not have dementia at the moment. But the real point is this, they keep giving him the test. These dementia tests are not something given to just any senior citizen; instead, they are given to people who have shown some signs of dementia. If the person passes, they don't give them again unless the person shows more signs of dementia.
I'll agree Trump isn't terminal but, beyond that, I don't think we can say anything with certainty. We know his health reports are edited for public consumption. One example I saw was how he had high cholesterol a year ago, and so they put him on rosuvastatin and ezetimibe. This year, while it was reported that Trump's cholesterol has improved, it didn't list the rosuvastatin and the ezetimibe that he is undoubtedly still taking. It also listed his "regular physical activity," which seemed almost like a joke. Trump has stated that he does not believe in exercise -- and his exercise is largely "playing golf;" though for him that is being driven to the ball, hitting it, getting back in the cart and being driven to where the ball was hit to, hitting it again, etc.
We don't know what Trump's actual health really is, other than he is in good condition for his age and he seems to be showing signs that could be early signs of dementia.

It's real simple. Compare clips of Trump from 2016 to now and there's not much difference. If there's not much difference in a person from ten years ago, they don't have dementia.
Do the same with Biden and one will see a very noticeable decline. He's like a totally different person in 2024 compared to 2016.
But all of this is moot. Because no matter how much it's claimed he has dementia, is in poor health, how low he ranks in approval polls... he's still going to continue to be the President of the United States until January 20th, 2029.

This is something I really don't get. It is plainly obvious to everyone that it's not an intelligence test. It is plainly obvious that memorising 5 words in sequence or being able to differentiate between a zebra and a rhino is not something that MENSA asks you to do to see if you are up for membership. It's for dementia. The guy has been tested 4 times, on his own admission, in the last 12 months. People are concerned enough about his behaviour to think it's necessary.
As it turns out, his ridiculous behaviour is not being caused by Alzheimers or any similar neurological decline. He's been like this for very many years. It's just Trump being Trump. His belief that the test is an intelligence test might well be considered a symptom of decline in itself. It isn't. It's an example of his character. He's simply desperate to be seen as being the smartest guy in the room.

This point I will disagree to a degree. He has now claimed that he has taken that test multiple times during his presidency. As far as I know, that's not normal for checking if one is starting to develop dementia. It's normal if you are following how the patients dementia is progressing.

There's a difference between talking the test and the test being ordered by a physician. Bad press constantly claiming someone has dementia can result in natural motivation for them to prove the claim to be false.

Back to 1987? Really? What the article is doing is comparing an off the cuff answer to a sudden question, to a controlled probably edited, possibly rehearsed and maybe even scripted interview from nearly 40 years ago.
It's been presented that Kamala Harris' 2024 interview on CBS's 60 Minutes, was edited to make her sound more articulate than she did in the unedited version. Furthermore there's all kinds of examples of Harris uttering what many consider word salads. Does that mean Harris has dementia? No, of course not.
How about a more reasonable timespan like 2016 to 2026? And both examples being the in the same sort of setting?

It's a result of age even aside from that. My cousin started getting purple blotches when he got into his 70s and he's quite healthy.

Purpura in those over 70 can occur from many things. In the case of it being on the back of the hand, that could occur from bumping the hand, sleeping on the hand, handshaking, scratching an itch on the back of the hand etc. In the case of it being due to bloodwork as one of many examples, it would likely occur on the inner forearm.
