I answered what grace is in itself: it is unmerited favour.I did not ask how it is given, I am asking what it is in itself, and why you can't understand the scripture I posted?

Jn 1:16 His fullness (divinity)I answered what grace is in itself: it is unmerited favour.
Times of refreshing would be things like spiritual refreshment, joy and peace, given to the penitent sinner in God's grace.
"grace is in itself: it is unmerited favour" where does scripture say this? thksI answered what grace is in itself: it is unmerited favour.

so it not in scripture!Unmerited favour is the simplest definition of the Greek word translated as "grace".
Nobody earns it. God gave it freely to all humanity when He established the Kindom. It was there to be chosen by each, a matter of allegiance to adversity or to the Kingdom.can we do anything to earn grace?
you right we cannot earn grace, but can earn an increase of graceNobody earns it. God gave it freely to all humanity when He established the Kindom. It was there to be chosen by each, a matter of allegiance to adversity or to the Kingdom.
Of course it's in Scripture. It's the most basic dictionary definition of the Scriptural Greek word, usually rendered as "grace", in English Bibles.so it not in scripture!
can we do anything to earn grace?
or prepare to receive grace?

how did the good thief humble himself, anyone can, and many christians act from the motive of pride!Of course it's in Scripture. It's the most basic dictionary definition of the Scriptural Greek word, usually rendered as "grace", in English Bibles.
One cannot earn unmerited favour.
If one has not yet received grace from God, then he is hostile towards God, hates the light and will not come to it; and he does not receive the things of the Spirit of God; so, no, he cannot prepare to receive God's grace.
This is what this verse reminds me of.Acts 3:19
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
what does this verse mean by "the refreshing"?
how does the presence of the Lord cause refreshing?
what does this verse mean by the "times of refreshing"?

Jn 20:21-22every translation is by humans and humans all have opinions.
I first go to Strong's and look up the words

converted
epistrephó: To turn, to return, to turn back, to convert

19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Then I look at other translations -- Here is "God's word translation"
GWT 19 So change the way you think and act, and turn [to God] to have your sins removed.
20 Then times will come when the Lord will refresh (and or rest) you. He will send you Jesus, whom he has appointed to be the Christ.
my understanding would be as follows
" change how you are living, repent of your sins, turn to God's Way, and then Christ will pay for your sins and the Father will give you rest
The "good" thief had been born again, whilst on the cross, otherwise he would not have believed in the Lord.how did the good thief humble himself, anyone can, and many christians act from the motive of pride!
