Podcaster and apologist Alisa Childers responded to critics accusing her of hypocrisy for agreeing with Dr. Albert Mohler’s position that a woman should not expound on a sermon during a church podcast. Childers addressed specific critiques of her position, while acknowledging that “the application” of complementarianism “is a bit more muddy than I think we are willing to admit.”
“I got so much pushback on this,” said Childers, going on to say, “I’m not going to belabor this too long because this is just one of these things that you face.”
“If you’re a woman who has a YouTube channel or a podcast or, as I learned last year, even speak at women’s conferences,” she said, “you’re going to get criticized from all sides…I’m used to that.”
“What I try to do, I work this out with fear and trembling,” Childers explained. “I counsel with my husband, my pastors. I do the best that I can to apply the biblical command in a way that is the most biblical. That causes me personally to make decisions that are going to err on the side of caution.”
