  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President calls Sen. Cornyn a 'good man' who was 'very late in backing' 2024 campaign

President Donald Trump endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday ahead of a crucial runoff vote for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Trump, 79, made the announcement on his Truth Social platform, referring to the 63-year-old Paxton as “an America First Patriot, and someone who has always been extremely loyal to me and our amazing MAGA movement.”

In his Truth Social post, the president wrote: “Ken is a true MAGA Warrior who has always delivered for Texas, and will continue to do so in the United States Senate. … Ken Paxton has gone through a lot, in many cases, very unfairly, but he is a Fighter, and knows how to win. Our Country needs Fighters, and also Loyalty to the Cause of Greatness.”

Ken Paxton is by far the much better choice over John Cornyn. I am praying that Ken Paxton defeats Cornyn and that he will the election in November.

Yeah, Paxton will win the primary. Evangelicals will go vote for an adulterer. And then during the general election, evangelical Christians will claim, “We had no choice but to vote for Paxton because Tellerico was going to kill babies.” We are pro-life, we are pro-life, we had no choice but to vote for Paxton.

Just like evangelicals did in 2016 and 2024. There were at least 15 Christians—from devout Catholics to Southern Baptist pastors—but in the end, evangelicals nominated someone with 13 sexual misconduct allegations. Then they claimed, “we had no choice, we couldn’t vote for Hillary or Harris because they would kill babies.”

A man who can’t even stay faithful to his wife, and you think he will be faithful to the U.S. Constitution or conservative agenda?

Humans are imperfect sinners. I am pretty sure most politicians have sinned in their personal lives. Like I said, we ain't voting for pastors and saints.

oh? Was it the “Constitutional Conservative agenda” that Trump was advancing when he pushed the birther conspiracy? Or the lies about the Haitian immigrants? Or when he conned a bunch of people into trying to steal an election for him? Or when he constantly defied the courts that are supposed to keep the executive branch in check?

Is it the “constitutional conservative agenda” that he’s championing when he plasters his name and face all over everything or when he pardons his crooked buddies? Is it that agenda you’re protecting when you guys treat him as god’s anointed leader, deny facts about him and his actions, and refuse to hold him accountable for absolutely any wrongdoing?

Oh, wait, I know… It’s the “constitutional conservative agenda” he’s pushing when he tries to overturn birthright citizenship that’s plainly laid out in the…

wait for it…

constitution.

lol, this is such a farce. If you wanted somebody to push a constitutional agenda, you’d have all fallen in behind Ted Cruz. No, what you’re all voting for is a demagogue who tells you it’s okay to hate the others.

Senator Ted Cruz is my favorite Senator. The rest of your accusations is something that I am sure the Democratic Party nominee for Senate will talk about and then the voters in Texas will decide for themselves who they want.

I have been hearing a lot about “we are not voting for a pastor” over the last 11 years. Maybe my understanding of scripture is different from others. As far as I can tell, when the Bible says, “Thou shall not commit adultery,” it is commanding everyone, not just those who choose to be a pastor.

I've never ever attempted to justify anyone's sin. I know that all of us are sinners in need of the Savior.

Wow, you went digging and found an old post.

There are a handful of topics for which I can search and have a high likelihood of quickly finding folks making comments that contradict their stances in other areas. Jan 6 is one of them.

Nevertheless, that post doesn't even come close to attempt to justify a sin.
It doesn't? You responded "best post ever" to another post that claimed the Jan 6 insurrectionists "weren't doing anything wrong." Describing a sin as not a sin is a form of justifying it.

In other words, loyalty means more to Trump than law abiding.

Rather ironic that Trump endorses Paxton, a man who was impeached by his fellow Republicans for bribery and corruption. Then there is this:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is under fire for a plea deal his prosecutors offered last month to a Waco man charged with repeatedly sexually abusing a young boy.
The deal in the case, which Paxton’s office took over about three years ago after the locally elected district attorney recused himself, would have let the man plead guilty to two misdemeanors and serve a total of just one day in jail.
Now Paxton, locked in a heated primary to be the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, is facing criticism from political opponents who say his office was too lenient toward the man, who admitted that he molested the victim as part of the deal. This comes even as Paxton has built a reputation attacking local district attorneys for being too soft on crime.......
As part of the indecent assault plea, Hoffman agreed to make a statement that he “did then and there, with the intent to arouse or gratify my sexual desire, touch genitals of [the victim, identified by initials] … and I acted without the complainant’s consent.”.....
But Sparkman’s final decision wouldn’t come until a formal sentencing hearing the following week.

“This isn’t justice”

Judge Sparkman was not happy.
Molest a child repeatedly and get one day in jail.
