CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think the decline of the church as we know it is more the result of a general compromise of the church itself in becoming more like the world rather than Christ. The church has become just another identity group among many in the culture war. People can get just about everything the church offers in secular organisations.
I think its when the church is different to the world and stands with Christ is when it shines and people notice the difference. When people are Christlike and oppose the world.
Paradoxically the more the church is different the more it shines and grows. The more it is persecuted the more it shines. The early church had to meet in secret and despite being hated and persecuted it grew even more so. Because Christ truth is different to the world and conflicts with it but at the same time people see that truth shine through.
