  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are the Gouverment really doing to it`s own people?

If you stand outside at night around 12 and look a little to the left of the moon, you will see the constellation Cetus, or the Whale, then you are looking towards a galaxy that is similar to our own, the Milky Way, it is called J0107. It is 11 million light years away. Albert Einstein said that nothing can move faster than the speed of light.

With that said, the probability of finding life in space is greatest with perhaps galaxies that are similar to our own, but they are too far away to reach anyway. Even if humans spread out and conquer more planets, it will take an awfully long time to reach this galaxy I mentioned for example, we will probably get bored before that time.

What are we really doing to the youth when we push them out into space, leave the planet in the hope of finding something, I won't be blunt, but we will never find life in space then, the moon has no life, Mars has no life and so on, we already know that. All that pressure with school, that they're constantly sitting with computers and cell phones and stuff, is it just the Government doing it because they want everyone to be slaves?

I wouldn't mind being in space, especially when the nukes fly.
Yeah . . . there might be people who hope to find ways to stay away from earth, in case there is a nuclear holocaust. So, I suppose there are conspiracy theorists who are sure the space travel program is secretly trying to make a way for certain people to get out of here and have somewhere to stay on the moon or somewhere else.

Of course, anyone like that should know prevention would be better . . . including by cancelling Iran's nuclear program . . . since, it is reported, the radicals of Iran believe they need to have a world apocalypse in order to get their Muslim "messiah" to come back . . . something like this.

Yes, it seems other places in space can be *millions* of light years away. So, even at the speed of light it would take millions of years to get to those other places. And even if aliens already did send us messages . . . it would take millions of years for one message to get to us, traveling at the speed of light.

So, God is bigger than all of this, and He is faster. So we do well, then, to be interested in what God is doing and going to do.

Yep, a twinkle of the eye faster, and it's interesting watching the countries align toward the end.

The galaxy you tried to name is missing half of its name.

Why worry about other galaxies? It would a take hundreds of years to reach another nearby star at minimum.

Pushing youth into space? Leave the planet? Get serious, there are no realistic plan to resettle even a few reckless volunteers to another planet. There is no need or capacity to "push youth into space".

One compelling reason why humanity should spread out into space and possibly other planets was given in the TV show Babylon 5:

Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes, and - all of this - all of this - was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars. (Jeffrey Sinclair (Michael O'Hare), Babylon 5: "Infection.")

-- A2SG, seems as good a reason as any, really....and better than some....

What are we really doing to the youth when we push them out into space...

Isn't evolution absolutely amazing. Sometimes it's self selecting. Those who are afraid to enter into the new world, end up perishing in the old one... now where have I heard that story before?
