  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

Just as Jesus said there is no good human, similarly there is nothing good in this world that can’t be or hasn’t been twisted to suit adversity to the will of God, including Christianity. Think of refreshing as the chaos created by elohim and man alike being subdued and neither of the two beings bent upon self- gain any more. The chaos restored to order.

Here's a breakdown of the word translated as refreshing.
Strong's Greek: 403. ἀνάψυξις (anapsuxis) -- Refreshing, relief, rest

20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

seems to be a reference to the second coming

"times of refreshing"

"refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord"

these do not appear anywhere else in scripture

"refreshing"

Isaiah 28:12
To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

how did Noah find grace?

what did Noah do to obtain grace?
Grace is undeserved favour. God chose Noah because He saw Noah as righteous among evil, righteous meaning walking in the ways of God rather than following the self-inclination of man and untainted by the sons of God, the rebellious elohim.

how it is given or received does not say what it actually is.

what is grace?

Somebody (I don't know who it was) said that grace is "God's Riches At Christ's Expense." That fits with what Paul wrote to the Ephesian Christians, emphasising to that that they were saved because of God's grace, not because of any good they had done:

(Eph 2:1) And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
(Eph 2:2) in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
(Eph 2:3) among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
(Eph 2:4) But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
(Eph 2:5) even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
(Eph 2:6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
(Eph 2:7) that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
(Eph 2:8) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
(Eph 2:9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.
(Eph 2:10) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

The verses I quoted contrast grace with works. Grace is underserved, something good from God that we don't deserve, not something God gives us as wages because we have worked for it.
